Call Meeting to Order Chair Angela Powell called the meeting of the Democratic Caucus to order at 05:11 PM in Committee Room A 1200 N. Telegraph Road, 12E, Pontiac, MI 48341. 2. Roll Call MEMBERS PRESENT: Charles Cavell, Ann Erickson Gault, Marcia Gershenson, Brendan Johnson, Penny Luebs, Gwen Markham, William Miller, Kristen Nelson, Angela Powell, Yolanda Smith Charles, Linnie Taylor, David Woodward (12) MEMBERS ABSENT WITH NOTICE: (0) 3. Public Comment No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #1. 4. Approval of Minutes a. Board of Commissioners - dated February 11, 2025 Linnie Taylor moved approval of the Minutes dated February 11, 2025, as presented. Seconded by Penny Luebs. Motion Passed. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the Minutes dated January 23, 2025, were approved. 5. Discussion Items Chair Angela Powell addressed the Caucus to introduce Timothy Willis, Oakland County Undersheriff and Russell Yeiser, Oakland County Major. Commissioner Brendan Johnson addressed the Caucus to discuss Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee item entitled: Oakland County Transit Division - Amendment 2025-1 with Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) for Public Transportation Services. Discussion followed. Commissioner Charles Cavell addressed the Caucus to discuss Economic and Infrastructure Committee item entitled: Oakland County Transit Division - Access to Transit Award Recommendations as well the item entitled: 2025 North Oakland County Household Hazardous Waste (NoHaz) Interlocal Agreement. Discussion followed. Commissioner Penny Luebs addressed the Caucus to announce a presentation that was given by Peckham Inc., during the recent Public Health and Safety Committee meeting. Commissioner Kristen Nelson addressed the Caucus to discuss the Oakland County Road Commission building construction project. Discussion followed. Commissioner David Woodward addressed the Caucus to announce the medical director has resigned and an interim director is in place. He also stated a broadband letter was created, school resource officer contracts are being developed and the plans for unused ARPA funding. Commissioner Charles Cavell addressed the Caucus to announce Rx Kids opportunities for the communities of the Township of Royal Oak, the City of Pontiac and the City of Hazel Park. Discussion followed. Commissioner David Woodward addressed the Caucus to announce the State of the County Address will be held on March 19th, at 7:00 PM. Commissioner Yolanda Smith Charles addressed the Caucus to discuss the formation of the AI Technology Study Group.. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gwen Markham addressed the Caucus to discuss Congressional funding cuts that would affect SEMCOG projects. Chair Angela Powell addressed the Caucus to announce a future meeting will be scheduled to discuss the Oakland County Road Commission construction project. Discussion followed. Commissioner Charles Cavell addressed the Caucus to provide an update on the student loan forgiveness program through Savi. Commissioner Brendan Johnson addressed the Caucus to discuss the 2024 NACo Great Lakes Caucus, the Tri-County Summit, and the Province of Windsor. Discussion followed. Chair Angela Powell addressed the Caucus to read the Caucus announcements. Linda Zavik addressed the Caucus to present the Honoree 2024 Angel Award to Commissioner Angela Powell. 6. Public Comment The following people addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #2: John Lauve. 7. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 07:29 PM.
