Public Defender's Office.

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Oakland County Human Resources manages a Summer Program. Under that program,
departments are encouraged to hire paid interns for a maximum of 520 hours during the summer
months. The Public Defender's Office would like to participate in this program, as it is a great way to
expose current law school students to a future career in Public Defense. The Michigan Indigent
Defense Commission (MIDC) has approved the funding of these intern positions through our current
MIDC grant, and we intend to request funding for these positions in each subsequent MIDC grant. If
for any reason we did not receive funding from the MIDC, these positions would not be filled. The
total amount expended for these two positions is expected to be less than $25,000.
BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: No
