Facilities Management - Consumers Energy Company Easement for High Pressure Gas Main
Realignment at Telegraph and County Center Drive
Chair and Members of the Board:
WHEREAS Water Resources Commissioner is receiving Federal Grant money for a project to
improve the Mainland Drain that runs through Oakland County Campus; and
WHEREAS the project is replacing the culvert (all costs for the culvert replacement will be paid for by
MOOT) that crosses under Telegraph Road at the County Center Drive intersection; and
WHEREAS the new larger culvert will allow for better drainage flow in that area to alleviate road
flooding and is designed for a 100 year flood event; and
WHEREAS in order for the culvert replacement to take place, Consumers needs to lower their
highpressure gas main that is in the area; and
WHEREAS the gas main lowering will shift the main to outside the road right-of-way and an easement
of 12 feet wide on County property just west of Telegraph Road is necessary; and
WHEREAS Oakland County Corporation Counsel, the Departments of Facilities Management and
WRC have reviewed and approved the Consumers Easement for the project to begin.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby
approves and authorizes the attached Consumers Easement for the Mainland Drain improvements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby directs its
Chair or their designee to execute the attached Consumers Easement between the County of
Oakland and Consumers Power.
