Motion to approve the one-time allotment of $5,000 from the Fiscal Year 2025 Board of
Commissioners General Fund Sponsorship line-item budget for the purpose of sponsoring the
Commerce Township Bicentennial Celebration; further, approve and authorize the Board Chair to
execute any required agreements on behalf of Oakland County. Additionally, require that the
recipient of the funds promote the County and provide an impact report to the Board detailing the
sponsorship outcomes, including the number of residents served.

6. Project Overview: The Commerce Township Bicentennial Celebration is a one-day community
event marking the 200th anniversary of the Village of Commerce Township. The celebration will
take place on June 14, 2025, and is designed as an inclusive, family-friendly festival honoring the
Township’s rich history and civic identity. Planned activities include a 5K run, pancake breakfast,
children's games, live musical performances, vendor booths, pony rides, a petting zoo, and other
attractions that reflect the spirit and heritage of the community. This milestone event will bring
residents together for a full day of celebration, while also welcoming visitors from surrounding areas.

cost of the overall project, and specifically how much you are asking the Board of Commissioners
(BOC) to contribute: The total cost of the Commerce Township Bicentennial Celebration is
estimated at $50,000. The Township has committed general fund dollars to support the event, and
planning is being led by municipal staff and community volunteers. This request seeks a $5,000
contribution from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. These funds would be used to
support enhancements to event programming, such as expanded children’s activities, additional
entertainment, or improved infrastructure for the day. The County’s contribution would represent a
small but meaningful share of the total project cost and help elevate the quality of this landmark
event for Township residents and neighboring communities.

on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Planning is currently underway and will continue through the spring,
