Project Overview: Briefly describe the proposed project, including its purpose, goals, and intended outcomes. The Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program offered by the 42 Strong Foundation provides structured mentorship opportunities for youth by matching older students with younger peers in a supportive relationship designed to foster emotional intelligence, connection, resilience, and community engagement. The program honors the legacy of Tate Myre by encouraging consistency, caring, and humble confidence in mentor-mentee relationships and promotes student well-being and connectedness to family, peers, school, and community. Through monthly meet-ups, educational activities, and guided interactions, the initiative seeks to build strong peer bonds and develop leadership skills that benefit participating students and contribute to community resilience. 7. Project Type: Please select the type of Special Project Request. This request should be categorized as a program, as it supports an ongoing youth development initiative intended to deliver direct services and long-term benefits for Oakland County students and families. 8. Provide a proposed budget breakdown for the project, including but not limited to the estimated cost of the overall project, and specifically how much you are asking the Board of Commission (BOC) to contribute. Commissioner Spisz is requesting sponsorship support in the amount of $10,000 for the 42 Strong Foundation’s Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program. This contribution would help underwrite programmatic costs, including mentor training, curriculum materials, event logistics for monthly meet-ups, and outreach to expand youth participation across the region. The program’s overall annual budget and matching funding sources will be provided by the foundation through a combination of grants, private contributions, and other philanthropic support. 9. Provide a detailed timeline for implementation of the project. The Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program operates on a school-year cycle, with planning and mentor training occurring in advance of the academic year and monthly activities and events scheduled throughout the program year. Funding support from the Board, if approved, will be applied in 2026 to support ongoing operations and expansion efforts within that program cycle. 10. Provide detail on any possible funding partners or matching funds. The 42 Strong Foundation currently secures funding from individual donors, community organizations, and fundraising events to support its mission, and other sponsors may contribute financial or in-kind resources to expand program reach. The requested County support is intended to align with these broader funding efforts and is not currently matched by a specific required pledge. 11. Describe the anticipated impact of the project and how its success will be evaluated. The anticipated impact of the 42 Strong Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program includes increased student connectedness to peers, family, school, and community; enhanced self-esteem and emotional well- being; and strengthened leadership and resilience among participating youth. Success will be evaluated through participation metrics, engagement levels in mentoring activities, qualitative feedback from mentors and mentees, and evidence of positive outcomes such as improved social- emotional skills and community involvement. 12. Include any additional information or supporting documents relevant to the project. The 42 Strong Foundation is recognized as a peer mentoring organization rooted in the legacy of Tate Myre and has a record of community engagement activities and support efforts that extend beyond the mentorship program to service initiatives involving local partners. Detailed program descriptions, outcomes data, and organizational documentation may be provided by the foundation upon request to support the Board’s review.
