ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Gift/Donation Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Miscellaneous Resolution #19005 requires gift donations with a value of $10,000 or more to be officially acknowledged by the County and accepted by resolution. The Fugle Foundation has generously provided a donation of $90,000 to the Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit for the purchase of BMW motorcycles and any additional equipment needed for the Motor Unit. Maintenance is currently budgeted in the Sheriff’s Office for the Motor Unit. POLICY ANALYSIS • Per the attached donation letter, these funds are specifically donated to and are to be used by the Motor Unit for the purchase of BMW Motorcycles with any additional funds to be used for equipment at the sole discretion of the Motor Unit Sergeant. • The donated funds are estimated to allow for the purchase of two (2) fully equipped motorcycles. The OCSO plans to use the remaining balance toward the purchase of specialized uniforms for the Motor Unit. • Dr. Michael Fugle, a renowned Orthopedic Doctor in Oakland County for 45 years, established the Fugle Foundation Trust, providing annual donation guidelines that allow the trustee to allocate funds under their discretion. The trustee approached the OCSO to inquire about whether the Foundation could offer support. It was then determined that a donation to the Motor Unit was in accordance with the guidelines established under the foundation.
