Phil Weipert Describe what you are requesting the Board to fund and what the public will receive as a result. We are requesting funding assistance for the 34th annual Milford Memories Summer Festival. This is 3 days of art, food, music, kids' activities and non-profit engagement for Oakland and surrounding Counties' residents. This fun, family friendly event rivals Arts, Beats and Eats and the Woodward Dream Cruise with attendance. There is fun for all. Is this request best classified as a sponsorship of an event or support for a program? Sponsorship If this request includes an event, please provide the event date(s), location(s), expected attendance, and whether the event is free and open to the public. This free event takes place August 7,8,9, 2026 and is expected to see 250,000 people of all demographics. What is the total budget for the overall project, program, or event, and what is the specific amount requested from the Board of Commissioners? Please present both figures clearly and explain how the requested amount fits into the total budget. The total budget for Milford Memories is $369,172. The specific amount requested from the Board of Commissioners is $10,000. This request represents a small portion of the overall event budget and will help support important festival needs, specifically kids’ activities and volunteer appreciation, while the remaining costs will be covered through other funding sources, sponsorships, and event support. Please provide a narrative budget explanation describing what costs exist in the overall budget and which costs the Board’s requested funds would pay for. The Milford Memories Summer Festival budget includes the costs required to plan and host a safe, welcoming, and engaging community event, including entertainment, equipment and rentals, permits, insurance, sanitation, marketing, and general event operations. The Commissioner funding will specifically support kids’ activities and volunteer appreciation, helping provide family-friendly programming for children and recognize the 500+ volunteers whose time and effort are essential to the festival’s success. By covering these important areas, the requested funds will strengthen community participation, enhance the festival experience, and help ensure the event remains accessible and enjoyable for all. Please describe all confirmed funding partners, matching funds, sponsorships, or in-kind contributions, and specify the amount or estimated value of each. Milford Memories 2026 is supported by many different businesses at a variety of sponsorship levels, already confirmed this year. The amount of support varies by sponsor level and goes from $750- $10,000. The festival also receives in-kind support, including contributions from Oakland County Parks, as well as volunteer time, promotional assistance, materials, supplies, and donated services that help reduce overall event costs. Because support comes from a broad range of businesses and partners at different levels, individual contribution amounts and estimated values vary, but together these resources provide critical support for the festival. The requested $10,000 from the Board of Commissioners would complement this community-wide investment and specifically support kids’ activities and volunteer appreciation. If contributions are not yet confirmed, please describe what is anticipated, what is pending, and when decisions will be made. The Festival's sponsorships are about halfway full as of April 1. We are on track to connect with both past and new sponsors to achieve our sponsor goal. If the Board does not fund this request, what would change, be reduced, or not occur? Budget for both ancillary activities/appreciation would be cut. Please explain the public purpose of the project in clear terms, including how Oakland County residents will benefit. The Milford Memories Summer Festival provides a free, family-friendly community event that brings residents together, supports local connections, and creates shared opportunities for recreation and entertainment. Oakland County residents benefit through access to activities for children and families, community programming, volunteer engagement, and a welcoming space that encourages participation from people of all ages. The festival also strengthens the local economy by drawing visitors to Milford’s downtown businesses and highlights the value of community partnerships, making it both a cultural and economic benefit to Oakland County residents. Please explain what the County receives in return for the expenditure. In return for sponsorship, the benefits that Oakland County receives include: sponsor signage on Festival Grounds both at the Kids' Central Tent and at Volunteer Check-in, social media shout outs on Facebook and Instagram, banner ryder with OCBOC name hung in the village of Milford for 3 weeks around Festival time, name/logo at milfordmemories.com under sponsors/supporters and also government support. There are additional benefits depending on grant award. If this request includes improvements to property not owned by Oakland County, please explain ownership and access. No improvements included Please provide a clear implementation timeline with start date, milestones, and completion date. In it's 34th year, Milford Memories takes about a full year to plan. The Festival itself takes place the second weekend in August, this year: August 7,8,9, 2026. The Festival starts each day at 10am. Please describe who will benefit from the project. The Milford Memories Summer Festival will benefit Oakland County residents of all ages, including children, families, seniors, volunteers, local businesses, and community members seeking accessible recreational and cultural opportunities. The festival is expected to serve thousands of attendees across southwest Oakland County. Please describe how success will be evaluated. Success will be measured by attendance, participation in kids’ activities, volunteer involvement, and overall community engagement. Reported outcomes will include estimated attendance, number of children and families participating, volunteer participation, and feedback from attendees and partners. Please confirm that the organization will submit an outcomes report. Yes. If requested, please confirm proof of expenditure will be provided. Yes.
