ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Grant Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The Sheriff’s Office has received $43,592 from the State of Michigan for the Narcotics Teams & Task Force Grant Program for the period January 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026. The Narcotic Teams & Task Force Grant funding in PA 166 of 2022 is a one-time appropriation for the purpose of furthering the investigation and interdiction of illegal narcotics. Any agencies that operate multi-jurisdictional full-time narcotics task forces are eligible to receive this funding. The Sheriff's Office was awarded $31,596 for pole cameras and $11,996 for thermal monoculars. POLICY ANALYSIS • The grant application was received and filed at the April 21, 2026, PHS meeting. A county match is not required for this grant funding. • Per the department, this grant acceptance does not require additional authorization to accept funding. The grantor agency authorized funds to be disbursed by signing off on the submitted application. This can be found on the two (2) documents titled "OaklandCSONET", on the top of page three (3) in the box titled "For Commissioner Use Only". • Grant funding will be used for the purchase of four (4) Canon pole cameras in the amount of $31,596 and four (4) thermal monoculars in the amount of $11,996.
