Describe what you are requesting the Board to fund and what the public will receive as a
result.
The Village of Wolverine Lake is requesting sponsorship support for its 39th Annual Tiki Night
Fireworks display on Wolverine Lake. The public will receive a free fireworks display provided for
Village residents and visitors from neighboring communities.
Is this request best classified as a sponsorship of an event or support for a program?
Sponsorship generally supports a one-time event and includes recognition/visibility, while a
Program supports services, deliverables, or lasting community benefit beyond a single
event.
Sponsorship
If this request includes an event, please provide the event date(s), location(s), expected
attendance, and whether the event is free and open to the public.
The 39th Annual Tiki Night Fireworks will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, on Wolverine Lake.
Estimated attendance is approximately 10,000 people. The event is free and open to the public.
What is the total budget for the overall project, program, or event, and what is the specific
amount requested from the Board of Commissioners? Please present both figures clearly
and explain how the requested amount fits into the total budget.
The total budget for the fireworks display is $40,000. The Village is requesting $2,500 from the
Board of Commissioners to help underwrite the cost of the fireworks display.
Please provide a narrative budget explanation describing what costs exist in the overall
budget and which costs the Board’s requested funds would pay for.
The $40,000 budget represents the cost of the fireworks display itself, provided by Gen-X
Pyrotechnics of White Lake. Board funds would help underwrite the cost of the display.
Please describe all confirmed funding partners, matching funds, sponsorships, or in-kind
contributions, and specify the amount or estimated value of each.
The Onwards and Upwards Community Enrichment Fund is contributing $25,000 toward the
fireworks display. The Village of Wolverine Lake is contributing $15,000. The City of Walled Lake,
City of Wixom, Commerce Township, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are
providing in-kind first responder services before, during, and after the fireworks display, with an
estimated value of $10,000 to $15,000.
If contributions are not yet confirmed, please describe what is anticipated, what is pending,
and when decisions will be made.
All contributions are confirmed except for this request for support from the Board of Commissioners.
If the Board does not fund this request, what would change, be reduced, or not occur?
The fireworks display will proceed as planned. However, Board support would allow the Onwards
and Upwards Community Enrichment Fund to reallocate a portion of its support to other community
initiatives.
Please explain the public purpose of the project in clear terms, including how Oakland
County residents will benefit.
The Tiki Night Fireworks display provides a safe, family-friendly community event for residents of
Wolverine Lake and neighboring Oakland County communities. The 2026 event will also be part of
the celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the adoption of the
Declaration of Independence.
Please explain what the County receives in return for the expenditure. If the request is a
sponsorship, describe recognition benefits. If the request is a program, describe program
deliverables and measurable public outcomes.
Oakland County will be publicly recognized as a supporter of the 39th Annual Tiki Night Fireworks
celebration, which is expected to attract approximately 10,000 attendees.
If this request includes improvements to property not owned by Oakland County, please
explain who owns the property, who will control and maintain the improvements, and how
the public will have continued access to the benefit funded by the County.
Not applicable. The request does not include improvements to property.
Please provide a clear implementation timeline with start date, milestones (if applicable), and
completion date.
The Village has already executed a contract with Gen-X Pyrotechnics for the fireworks display.
Staging will begin the morning of Friday, July 3, 2026, and the fireworks display will begin over the
lake at approximately 10:00 p.m.
Please describe who will benefit from the project, including estimated number of Oakland
County residents served and which communities or geographic areas are expected to
participate.
Approximately 10,000 attendees, most of whom are expected to be Oakland County residents, will
benefit from the event. Attendees include Village residents and residents from neighboring
communities.
Please describe how success will be evaluated and what measurable outcomes will be
reported.
Success will be evaluated based on feedback from Village residents, neighboring community
residents, the Village Police Department, and other first responders supporting the event. Any
incidents requiring police or fire response will be reviewed to help ensure continued public safety at
future events.
Please confirm that the organization will submit an outcomes report to the Board of
Commissioners by the end of the calendar year and describe what that report will include,
such as attendance, participation, services delivered, and resident impact.
Yes. The report should include estimated attendance, event participation, public safety feedback,
services delivered, and resident impact.
If requested, please confirm the organization will provide proof of expenditure, invoices, or
comparable documentation showing how Board funds were used.
Yes.
