Describe what you are requesting the Board to fund and what the public will receive as a
result.
The request is for sponsorship support for Revin’ In The Heights, a cultural community event in
Madison Heights. The event began as a celebration of classic cars and has evolved into a high-
energy community experience celebrating local culture through music, food, art, and community
pride. The public will receive a free, family-friendly event that brings together residents, visitors,
vehicle owners, vendors, and community partners.
Is this request best classified as a sponsorship of an event or support for a program?
Sponsorship generally supports a one-time event and includes recognition/visibility, while a
Program supports services, deliverables, or lasting community benefit beyond a single
event.
Sponsorship
If this request includes an event, please provide the event date(s), location(s), expected
attendance, and whether the event is free and open to the public.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in
Madison Heights. The event is free and open to the public. Attendance is expected to be in the
hundreds, with several dozen vehicle owners displaying cars.
What is the total budget for the overall project, program, or event, and what is the specific
amount requested from the Board of Commissioners? Please present both figures clearly
and explain how the requested amount fits into the total budget.
The total event budget is $15,000. The request to the Board of Commissioners is $4,000. The Board
sponsorship would support approximately one-third of the total event budget and help fund event
logistics, entertainment, security, marketing, and cultural programming.
Please provide a narrative budget explanation describing what costs exist in the overall
budget and which costs the Board’s requested funds would pay for.
The overall budget includes costs related to event logistics, entertainment, security, marketing, and
cultural programming. Board funds would help support these event costs and allow organizers to
provide a high-quality, inclusive, free community event for Madison Heights residents and visitors
from throughout Oakland County.
Please describe all confirmed funding partners, matching funds, sponsorships, or in-kind
contributions, and specify the amount or estimated value of each.
Confirmed or identified partners include the Madison Heights Community Coalition, DTE
Foundation, and Madison Heights/Hazel Park Chamber members. Specific contribution amounts or
estimated values were not provided in the submission.
If contributions are not yet confirmed, please describe what is anticipated, what is pending,
and when decisions will be made.
Priority Waste has been a past sponsor and is anticipated to sponsor the event again this year.
Additional pending contribution amounts or decision dates were not provided.
If the Board does not fund this request, what would change, be reduced, or not occur?
If the Board does not fund this request, the size and scale of the event may be directly impacted
because organizers have set a budget based on the amount of funds raised.
Please explain the public purpose of the project in clear terms, including how Oakland
County residents will benefit.
Revin’ In The Heights brings together hundreds of residents and visitors for a free, family-friendly
celebration that emphasizes cultural expression, community storytelling, and local pride. The event
is part of Madison Heights’ cultural calendar and complements other community events such as the
Asian Lantern Festival and Juneteenth Celebration by offering a distinct, participatory opportunity to
celebrate culture through everyday interests and expressions. The County’s contribution would help
ensure the event remains free and accessible to the public while supporting a high-quality, inclusive
experience.
Please explain what the County receives in return for the expenditure. If the request is a
sponsorship, describe recognition benefits. If the request is a program, describe program
deliverables and measurable public outcomes.
The Board of Commissioners’ sponsorship will be acknowledged on signs posted at the event and
in public communications about the event.
If this request includes improvements to property not owned by Oakland County, please
explain who owns the property, who will control and maintain the improvements, and how
the public will have continued access to the benefit funded by the County.
Not applicable.
Please provide a clear implementation timeline with start date, milestones (if applicable), and
completion date.
Planning efforts are already underway and will continue through the summer to finalize partnerships,
vendor agreements, and programming schedules. The event will take place on Saturday,
September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event itself is a one-day initiative, but
implementation spans multiple months to support community engagement and logistical
coordination.
Please describe who will benefit from the project, including estimated number of Oakland
County residents served and which communities or geographic areas are expected to
participate.
Madison Heights residents, car enthusiasts, families, vendors, and visitors from throughout Oakland
County will benefit. The event is expected to include several dozen vehicle owners and hundreds of
attendees.
Please describe how success will be evaluated and what measurable outcomes will be
reported.
Success will be evaluated qualitatively through community feedback, media coverage, and
testimonials, and quantitatively through estimated attendance, social media engagement, and
vendor participation.
Please confirm that the organization will submit an outcomes report to the Board of
Commissioners by the end of the calendar year and describe what that report will include,
such as attendance, participation, services delivered, and resident impact.
Yes. The report should include attendance, participation, vendor involvement, community feedback,
social media engagement, services delivered, and resident impact.
If requested, please confirm the organization will provide proof of expenditure, invoices, or
comparable documentation showing how Board funds were used.
Yes.
