ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Resolution Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The Oakland County Sheriff is required to provide security for the Court when requested by the District Courts of the Third Class. If requested, the District Courts of the Third Class are required to pay for the Court security provided. The following District Courts of the Third Class have requested court security: • 43rd District Court – Ferndale Division • 43rd District Court – Madison Heights Division • 46th District Court – Southfield • 47th District Court – Farmington Hills • 48th District Court – Bloomfield Hills The current Court Deputy Services Agreements expire on September 30, 2026. The County Executive and the Sheriff developed district court security rates for the period commencing October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2029. POLICY ANALYSIS • The individual Court Deputy Services agreement rates are tentatively scheduled to come to the Board of Commissioners (BOC) for approval in September of 2026. Per resolution #2024- 3965, the BOC shall approve or reject the proposed rates before they are incorporated into contracts between the county and participating agencies. • Hourly rates for the PTNE Court/Park Deputy Positions are the same across all five (5) courts (2026/2027; $29.97, 2027/2028; $30.87, 2028/2029; $31.80). However, the number of positions, and the number of hours each position works is specific to each court. Additionally, the District Court Sergeant (Supervisor) position's monthly and annual charges are based on the number of PTNE positions. In turn, the total annual cost for each court varies. • The previous Court Deputy Service Agreements were for the period of FY 2024 - 2026. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners approves the District Court rates as applicable to each participating District Court as specified in its respective attached Schedule A for the period October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2029. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that budget amendments will be included with the individual Court Deputy Services agreements.
