GENERAL ELECTION - NOVEMBER 5, 2002
STATEMENT OF VOTES
OAKLAND CHARTER TWP
The whole number of votes given for and against the OAKLAND CHARTER TVVP PROPOSAL APPROVAL OF THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A CONSERVATION EASEMENT TO PRESERVE EXCEPTIONAL PARK AREAS
Shall the Charter Township of Oakland be authorized to establish conservation easements requiring the permanent
preservation of the following three park areas in the Township, found by independent consultants to have exceptional
ecological qualities and value, with such conservation easements to be conveyed to and enforced by a land conservancy
functioning in Oakland County: (1) the Oak-Hickory Forest in the northern portion of Bear Creek Nature Park; (2) the
Blue Heron Environmental Area; and, (3) the bog and associated southern hardwood swamp of Cranberry Lake Park.
The Parks and Recreation Commission and Township Board would retain reasonable regulatory control over such park
areas, and make provision for public access to and enjoyment of such areas, where appropriate.
was Five thousand three hundred and forty one
of which number Four thousand ninety three votes were received
and One thousand two hundred and forty eight
TOTAL 5,341
110 The whole number of votes given for and against the OAKLAND CHARTER TVVP PROPOSAL FIRE DEPARTMENT MILLAGE
RENEWAL
Shall the Charter Township of Oakland be authorized to continue the previously authorized levy of .9235 of one mill, and be authorized to
levy additional millage of .0765 of one mill to equal a total of one (1) mill, for a period of six years, starting with the December 2003 levy,
for the purpose of providing funds for operating, maintaining and making capital improvements for and relating to the Fire Department and
its' operations? This approval is a renewal of a previously authorized millage and authorizes a new additional millage for these purposes.
Approval of this proposal would authorize a tax limitation increase renewal of $1.00 per $1,000 of the taxable value of all taxable property
in the Township. It is estimated that this proposal would result in the authorization to collect $841,215 the first year, if approved and
levied.
