PRESENT: Dorothy White, Republican Dorothy Gregory, Republican Alva Weninger, Democrat Florence Anderson, Democrat The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM. It was decided that Alva Weninger would serve as Chairperson. Deputy Clerk Karen Macintosh provided past canvas records and the Local Clerk's Election (#3 Envelope) records, write-in records and. tabulator results from the November 4, 2008 General Election. • • The Board reviewed and tallied the results of the Election and prepared a Statement of Votes. Due to the length, the results are attached here. The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM. . The proposed modification would: Implement gender-neutral language. Update terms used to reflect the current compoSiliOn ol the County committees and Government. Clarify language to reflect the practice approved by the County to allow for top five scores on all examinations, including ties or when mores are banded or grouped, when considering selection for promotion Into a vacancy. Remove language that lists Oakland County residency lie a requirement for workers and candldatea t reflect current practice. Update language to allow for communications through means other than U. S. Mail (e.g. allow electronic communications). Add a sixth member to the current Personnel Appeal Board and allow hearings to be conducted with 3 members present (1 Board of Commiaaioner member. 1 employee-elected member, and 1 Member at Large) so two hearings can take Place simultaneously. This would allow for quicker resolution of appeals and reduce case backlog. Establish grounds and a procedure for recur:al/disqualification of appeal board members on particular hearings and establish a process for replacing the disqualified member. • • . • Should Otis proposal be approved? PROPOSAL 08-1 A LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVE TO PERMIT THE USE AND CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA FOR SPECIFIED MEDICAL CONDITIONS The proposed law would; - Permit physician approved use of marijuana by regletered patients with debilitating medlc.al conditions Including cancer, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS. hepatitis C, MS and other conditions as may be approved by the Department of Community Health. - Permit registered individuals to grow limited amounts of marijuana For qualifying patients In an enclosed, locked facility. - Require Department of Community Health to establish an identification card system for patientisqUalffied to use . marijuana and inclIvidtialS:qiiillaed to grow , . merguena. .1 .•-• I - Perrnit registered and -eiltrigistered • patients and primary caregivers to assert medical reasons for using marijuana as a defense to any prosecution involving marijuana.
