The office is working on the settlement for 2011, which has to be done by the 21st of this month
and approved by county and state before we are written off. Once this process is complete, we will
receive our delinquent tax dollars.
Clerk’s Report
Nothing to report this evening.
Supervisor’s Report
Supervisor Thurman stated she is excited to announce that Brandon Township is working with
Consumers Energy to install gas mains into the township in areas that currently do not have natural
gas. This is a 3 year project which will save heating costs to residents and increase home values.
The cost of natural gas is approximately 37% of the cost of propane. The cost of propane has
traditionally gone up while natural gas prices have been dropping. There Will be a cost to install
the lines. The cost to the residents who sign up for service should not exceed $4,000, and can be
financed over 10 years at 8.6% interest. In order to proceed, Consumer’s needs 50% of the
residents in each phase to sign up. There are two meetings with residents scheduled at 7:00 PM at
the Performing Arts Center at the Brandon High School; April 10th and April 26th.
The Road Commission has new township maps available. The Township offices do not have them
at the moment; however, they are free at the Road Commission offices in Waterford or Beverly
Hills.
The No-Haz dates this year are April 28th in Oxford, June 2nd at Oakland University, and
September 22nd in Lake Orion. For more information, please contact the Supervisor’s office.
