As required by Urban Cooperation Act 7 of 1967 - MCL 124.510(4), a copy of the signed agreement with Brandon Township and the authorizing Board of Commissioners Resolution are enclosed for filing by your office. ROLL CALL: Present: Beltramo, Stowell, King, Gault, DePalma, Thurman Absent: McCreery (with notice) APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Gault, seconded by Beltramo, to approve the agenda. All were in favor, the motion carried. PRESENTATION: Service Award for Candee Allen REPORTS Treasury Report The tax collection is over. We have only collected 93% of the winter taxes, 96% of the summer taxes with an overall collection of 94%. We received the state constitutional revenue sharing check today for $166,256.00. In 2011 for same period we only received $158,743.00. Building Department Report With only January on the report, building permits are increased over the same last year with $2,500.00 over what was done at this time last year. Recreation Report The Recreation Department is busy with the spring programs. General Ledger Report The General Ledger report shows the general fund is at a -$36,687.00; however, constitutional sales tax is off by $277,000.00 and the report does not show carry forward. Trustees Report Stowell: Asked that the light above the outside door be checked and fixed as it could be a safety hazard as he almost tripped in the dark. DePalma: Nothing, thank you. Gault: Nothing, thank you. King: Nothing tonight, thank you. Treasurer’s Report With tax collection being over, anyone wishing to pay their taxes will have to do so at the county. They will need to get a revised statement from the Treasurers Office with the 5% penalty added. Charter Township of Brandon Regular Board Meeting Minutes March 5, 2012 Page 2 of 5 The office is working on the settlement for 2011, which has to be done by the 21st of this month and approved by county and state before we are written off. Once this process is complete, we will receive our delinquent tax dollars. Clerk’s Report Nothing to report this evening. Supervisor’s Report Supervisor Thurman stated she is excited to announce that Brandon Township is working with Consumers Energy to install gas mains into the township in areas that currently do not have natural gas. This is a 3 year project which will save heating costs to residents and increase home values. The cost of natural gas is approximately 37% of the cost of propane. The cost of propane has traditionally gone up while natural gas prices have been dropping. There Will be a cost to install the lines. The cost to the residents who sign up for service should not exceed $4,000, and can be financed over 10 years at 8.6% interest. In order to proceed, Consumer’s needs 50% of the residents in each phase to sign up. There are two meetings with residents scheduled at 7:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center at the Brandon High School; April 10th and April 26th. The Road Commission has new township maps available. The Township offices do not have them at the moment; however, they are free at the Road Commission offices in Waterford or Beverly Hills. The No-Haz dates this year are April 28th in Oxford, June 2nd at Oakland University, and September 22nd in Lake Orion. For more information, please contact the Supervisor’s office. Supervisor Thurman asked the resident to see her after the meeting. Special Meeting Minutes of February 6, 2012 as amended. Regular Bills in the Amount of $163,627.19. Pre-pays in the amount of $73,166.97. Trustee Timesheets in the Amount of $651.00. Recreation Department – Park Operations Motion by Stowell, seconded by DePalma to move the 101 Township Park Operations cost center of $22,250 to the 508 budget; to reduce line item 101-000-699-299 from $60,000 to $39,000; to add $21,000 to line item 508-000-699-299; to add $1,250 to Township General Fund Carry Forward and to move $4,500 from line item 508-299-702-000 to line item 508-299-704- 000.
