Flint Street Lake Orion, MI 48362 (248) 693-8391 FAX{248) 693-5874 www.lakeonon.org VILLAGE COUNCIL RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE VILLAGE OF OXFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT AS PRIMARY PUBLIC SAFETY ANSWERING POINT (PSAP) FOR THE VILLAGE OF LAKE ORION EFFECTIVE BY JANUARY 1, 2014. WHEREAS, the Lake Orion Village Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Oxford on August 26, 2013, for the Village of Oxford to provide emergency dispatching services for the Village of Lake Orion effective by January 1, 2014; and WHEREAS, the Lake Orion emergency dispatch center will be eliminated upon transfer of operations to the Village of Oxford; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Michigan Emergency Telephone Service Enabling Act, Public Act 32 of 1986, as amended, the Village of Lake Orion desires to formally designate the Village of Oxford Police Department as Lake Orion's Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) upon transfer of dispatching operations from Lake Orion to Oxford; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Orion Village Council does hereby designate the Village of Oxford Police Department as the Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for all 9-1-1 calls originating from within the Village of Lake Orion effective immediately upon the transfer of emergency dispatching operations from Lake Orion to Oxford but not later than January 1, 2014, pursuant to Section 18 of the Michigan Emergency Telephone Service Enabling Act, Public Act 32 of 1986, as amended; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 502 of the Michigan Emergency Telephone Service Enabling Act, Public Act 32 of 1986, as amended, the Lake Orion Police Department shall cease functioning as a Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) within the Oakland County 9-1-1 Services District immediately upon the transfer of emergency dispatching operations from Lake Orion to Oxford; and BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Lake Orion Village Council hereby directs the Oakland County 9-1-1 Coordinator, the Oakland County Clerk, and all applicable communication service providers to implement this directive by January 1, 2014.
