REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
September 2, 2009
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen at 6:14 p.m. in the
Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bullard, Capello, Douglas, Gingell, Gosselin,
Jacobsen, Long, Middleton, Potter, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub. (13)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0)
Quorum present.
Commissioner Taub introduced Lauren Gervason and Commissioner Douglas introduced Anthony
Markwort.
Moved by Taub supported by Gosselin the minutes of the August 12, 2009 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Democratic Commissioner Woodward introduced two proposed resolutions entitled Board of
Commissioners – Oakland County Farmers Market Participation in Supplemental Nutritional Assistance
Program (SNAP) and Board of Commissioners – Oakland Microloan Program.
Tim Soave, Manager of Fiscal Services, addressed the Caucus regarding County Commissioner
voluntary paybacks and answered questions.
Commissioner Potter introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support
Legislation to Temporarily Reduce Number of Circuit Court Judgeships and introduced Alicia Urbain from
Circuit Court who addressed the Board and answered questions.
Commissioner Gingell stated there were going to be a few changes in Miscellaneous Resolution #09179
– Board of Commissioners – Support for Continuation of the State Fair.
Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen declared a recess at 6:35 p.m. so that the Republican Commissioners
could introduce resolutions to the Democratic Caucus.

Quorum present.
Commissioner Taub introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Designating
September 11 – 17, 2009, as Michigan Patriot Week in Oakland County.

Commissioner Douglas introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Notice to
City of Clawson Regarding Oakland County’s Determination to Exempt its Ad Valorum Property Taxes
from Capture.
Democratic Commissioner Greimel introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners –
County Policy Requiring Payment of Prevailing Wage.
Commissioner Bullard made a few announcements regarding upcoming events.
Commissioner Gingell introduced a proposed resolution entitled Support of Tri-County Summit.
Commissioner Gosselin introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Oppose
Passage of U.S. Congress Comprehensive Federal Health Reform Legislation HB 3200.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 7:04 p.m. until September 24, 2009, at 8:30 a.m.
