REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
February 18, 2010
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen at 8:51 a.m. in the
Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Capello, Douglas, Gingell, Gosselin, Jacobsen,
Middleton, Potter, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub. (11)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Bullard, Long. (2)
Quorum present.
Democratic Commissioner Tim Greimel introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Support for the Metroparks Authority Operating the State Fair. Discussion followed and
Commissioner Greimel answered questions.
Democratic Commissioner David Woodward introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Encouraging All Eligible Families to Apply for the Federal and Michigan Earned Income
Tax Credit.
James Ryan, Oakland County Legislative Lobbyist, addressed the Caucus regarding the budget process
in Lansing and answered questions.
Commissioner Tom Middleton introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners –
Support for Clarkston Chrysler Jeep to have its Chrysler Jeep Franchise Reinstated and answered
questions.
Commissioner Sue Ann Douglas introduced a proposed amendment to MR #10022 – The Departments of
Facilities Management and Parks and Recreation - Request to Grant a Water Main Easement to the
Charter Township of White Lake, White Lake Oaks County Park.
Commissioner Shelley Taub introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support
for Restoring Funding for the County Jail Reimbursement Program.
Democratic Commissioner Mattie Hatchett introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Proclaiming March 2010 as Women’s History Month in Oakland County.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.

Republican Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen addressed the issue of the Metroparks Authority
Operating the State Fair. The Caucus discussed the options of sending the resolution to committee or
taking immediate action at the regular Board meeting. The Republican Caucus took a Caucus position to
not have immediate action on the resolution if it was introduced at the regular Board meeting.
Judy Cunningham, Corporation Counsel, addressed the Caucus regarding the motion to Discharge MR
#09129 – Board of Commissioners – Authorizing Inter-Governmental Transfer to Expand Access to
Health Care for Oakland County Residents, and Contracting Administration of County’s Indigent
Hospitalization Program with Oakland Health Plan, Inc. from the General Government and Finance
Committees as requested by Democratic Commissioner Dave Coulter.
Moved by Gosselin supported by Potter the minutes of the February 2, 2010 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 9:20 a.m. until March 3, 2010, at 6:00 p.m.
