REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
January 5, 2011
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 5:07 p.m. in the Courthouse
Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin,
Long, Matis, Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub, Weipert. (14)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: (0)
Quorum present.
Chairperson Shelley Taub requested Commissioner Gingell to start the first Caucus of the New Year off
with an Invocation.
Moved by Potts supported by Weipert the minutes of the December 9, 2010 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
There was no public comment.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding an amendment being made to the agenda under
the General Government Committee item e. entitled County Clerk/Register of Deeds – Elections Division
– Call for Special Election, County Commissioner, District #2.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding his support to nominate Shelly Goodman Taub
as Temporary Chairperson of the Board.
Democratic Commissioner Gershenson introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – 2011/2012 Women’s Commission for Oakland County.
Democratic Commissioner Woodward introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners
– Mobile Food Vendors on County Campus.
Commissioner Gosselin addressed the Caucus to introduce former commissioners Greg Jamian and Eric
Wilson; he also welcomed Jim Alexander and Ron Fowkes - nominee for the Board of Road Commission.
Commissioner Scott introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Appointment of
an AD Hoc Committee to Review the Oakland County Merit Rules as They Pertain to Ethics.

Commissioner Matis introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Appointment of
an AD Hoc Committee to Explore Televising and/or Webcasting Board of Commissioners and Committee
Meetings.
Discussion followed with questions.
Commissioner Matis addressed the Caucus to respond to the questions.
Chairperson Shelley Taub introduced Ida Herron, Oakland County Elections Division and Deputy County
Clerk, Chris Ward.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus, specifically to the newly elected Commissioners
regarding talking points; she also passed out a chart of the Senior Advisor Committee, as well as
informing them on future meetings, including schedule and rotation of provided refreshments.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding the swearing-in of newly elected Commissioners
and introductions of Family and Friends.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 5:21 p.m. until January 20, 2011, at 8:30 a.m.
