Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Long, Middleton, Nuccio, Runestad, Scott, Taub. (12) ABSENT: Potts, Weipert. (2) VIA TELECONFERENCE: Matis. (1) Quorum present. Moved by Scott supported by Crawford the minutes of the February 15, 2011 Republican Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub had a poem for the Commissioners to recite entitled “Taxes”. No one addressed the Caucus during public comment. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Oakland County Corporation Counsel, Judy Cunningham and Assistant Corporation Counsel Bradley Benn. Oakland County Corporation Counsel Judy Cunningham and Assistant Corporation Counsel Bradley Benn addressed the Caucus to give a presentation on the proposed closing of the Troy Public Library and how it will affect Oakland County. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Oakland County Purchasing Manager Jack Smith. Oakland County Purchasing Manager Jack Smith addressed the Caucus to give a presentation and overview of Oakland County’s purchasing policies. Discussion followed. Additional Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. March 22, 2011 138 Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Director of Health and Human Services George Miller. Director of Health and Human Services George Miller addressed the Caucus to give a presentation on the selling of the Health Division West Office. Discussion followed Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Undersheriff Michael Mccabe. Undersheriff Michael McCabe addressed the Caucus to update them regarding the negotiations taking place between Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Pontiac Police Department. Undersheriff Michael McCabe also relayed his anticipation of receiving an American Crime Lab Certification, which would entitle the Oakland County Crime Lab to Federal Funds. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub extended thanks on behalf of the Caucus to Undersheriff McCabe for the jail tour. Discussion followed. Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding the appointments to the Community Mental Health Authority Board. Discussion followed. Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding the appointments to the Metroparks Authority and expressed her concerns that they may not have any appropriate applicants at this time. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding non-binding resolutions and what protocol the Caucus will follow. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to propose re-establishing a legislative committee. Discussion followed. Commissioner Crawford addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for Michigan Products and Encouraging Oakland County Residents to “Buy Michigan”, which she intends to refer to the General Government Committee. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding preparation for meetings. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding newsletters, mailings, and labels to get an idea from the other Caucus members on what direction they would like the new Administrative Director, Program Evaluation and Operations Analysis James VerPloeg to take. Discussion followed. Additional Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. March 22, 2011 139 Commissioner Gosselin addressed the Caucus regarding the new census and population data. Discussion followed. Commissioner Crawford addressed the Caucus regarding the assigned parking spots in the Commissioners’ parking lot; she also expressed that she would like to have additional items to give to proclamation recipients.
