REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
May 4, 2011
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:00 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin,
Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub, Weipert. (15) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: (0)
Quorum present.
Moved by Matis supported by Crawford the minutes of the April 27, 2011 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to remind them of the General Government and Planning and Building Meetings that are to take place immediately following the Caucus Meeting and
immediately prior to the Board Meeting.
Discussion followed.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Oakland County Republican Party Chairman, Jim Thienel during public comment.
Oakland County Republican Party Chairman Jim Thienel addressed the Caucus during public comment
updating them on Party activities, events, finances and to give recognition to Party supporters.
Chairperson Shelly Taub addressed the Caucus to request a schedule of all upcoming events for the Caucus member.
Discussion followed.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus inquiring if the Finance Committee had any
items to report on the Regular Agenda, there were none.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding the suspension list for General Government item d. a Report entitled Board of Commissioners – Huron Clinton Metroparks Authority Board Appointment, she
also discussed General Government item b. on the Regular Agenda, a Report entitled Board of Commissioners – Appointment to the Jury Board.

Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus regarding the Jury Board Appointment, stating that he opposes the presentation and explained why.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus stating that she will be referring the General Government item
b. a Report entitled Board of Commissioners – Appointment to the Jury Board, on the Regular Agenda, back to the General Government Committee, for further discussion.
Discussion followed.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that she will request Helen Hanger, Senior
Committee coordinator of the Board, to submit future Appointments to all Caucus members to avoid further conflict.

Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus regarding the suspension list Planning and Building item b. a
proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Department of Facilities Management – Request for Approval of License Agreement with Weller Bros. Land Company, Inc. for Placement of Radio Communication
Equipment 29828 West Eight Mile Road, City of Farmington, Michigan that he will refer to the Finance Committee.
Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus stating that he will refer the Public Services items on the
Regular Agenda, items a. through i. to the Finance Committee; and items j. and k. to the Human Resources and Finance Committee.
Commissioner Matis addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled
Board of Commissioners – Support for Amending MCL 168.499(3) to Eliminate the Requirement that Local Clerks Send Corrected Voter Identification Cards Due to Redistricting Resulting from the Decennial
Census that he will refer to the General Government Committee.
Discussion followed.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Health Care Reimbursement Account Debit Card Option
that she will refer to the Human Resources Committee.
Discussion followed.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to remind them of the upcoming May 12th additional caucus meeting.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 8:35 p.m. until May 19, 2011, at 8:30 a.m.
