REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
July 21, 2011
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Vice Chairperson Beth Nuccio at 8:45 a.m. in the
Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Weipert. (14)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Taub. (1)
DEMOCRATIC COMMISSIONER PRESENT: Wooward. (1)
Quorum present.
Tim Bos, Representative of the Michigan Freedom to Work Coalition addressed the Caucus during public comment.
Discussion followed.
Moved by Middleton supported by Weipert the minutes of the July 6, 2011 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Caucus Vice-Chairperson Beth Nuccio addressed the Caucus regarding the Consent Agenda.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to discuss amending the Communications portion of the Agenda to add a Proclamation for Miss Oakland County and a Proclamation for Miss Oakland County
Outstanding Teen.

Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding Library Board appointment.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding review of the appointment process.
Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus to discuss supporting Rich Poling as a Board of Commissioners’ Attorney.

Commissioner Hoffman addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Designating September 11 – 17, 2011, as Michigan Patriot Week in Oakland
County that he will refer to General Government Committee.
Caucus Vice-Chair Beth Nuccio addressed the Caucus to introduce Democratic Commissioner Woodward.
Democratic Commissioner Woodward addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous
Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Resolution in Support of SB 569 to Maintain Film Tax Credits that he will refer to General Government Committee.

Democratic Commissioner Quarles addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous
Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for H.R. 1758 - Legislation Regulating for Profit Universities that she will refer to General Government Committee.
Caucus Vice-Chair Beth Nuccio addressed the Caucus to introduce Democratic Commissioner Covey.
Democratic Commissioner Covey addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous
Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Complete Streets Resolution: Modeled after Grand Haven City Council Resolution that he will refer to General Government Committee.
Commissioner Bosnic addressed the Caucus to thank Commissioner Scott for hosting the Republican
Caucus Barbeque.
Commissioner Matis addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Request for Investigation
of Fraudulent Mortgage Documents that he will refer to General Government Committee.
Commissioner Scott addressed the Caucus to remind them of the SEMCOG meeting.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 10:04 a.m. until August 3, 2011, at 6:00 p.m.
