REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
October 5, 2011
Meeting called to order by Vice Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners Jeff Matis at 6:15 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin,
Hoffman, Matis, Middleton, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Long, Nuccio, Taub. (3)
Quorum present.
Moved by Dwyer supported by Potts the minutes of the September 22, 2011 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Administrative Director – Program Evaluation and Operations Analyst, Jim VerPloeg addressed the Caucus during public comment to announce that Senior Board of Commissioners Analyst, Harvey Wedell
is retiring and to invite Caucus members to his brunch on October 21, 2011.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Middleton addressed the Caucus regarding item b. on the Regular Agenda, a Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Supplemental Funding for the Lake Neva Lake Level Control Structure.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled
Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs – Community and Home Improvement Division – Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Cooperation Agreement with the City of Pontiac,
and stated he will move to suspend the rules and ask for immediate consideration.
Discussion followed with comment from Deputy County Executive, Matt Gibb.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners - Resolution Exempting Oakland County Government from the Provisions of
2011 P.A. 152 for Calendar Year 2012 and stated that Commissioner Dwyer will refer it to the Human Resources Committee and the Finance Committee.
Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution
entitled Board of Commissioners – Request for Proposals for Discount Prescription and Health Benefit Program and stated that he will refer it to the Finance Committee.
