REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
February 1, 2012
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:08 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin,
Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, Scott, Taub, Weipert. (14) ABSENT: Runestad. (1)
Quorum present.
Moved by Crawford supported by Nuccio the minutes of the January 19, 2012 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Judy Cunningham, Corporation Counsel addressed the Caucus during public comment to give an update on the current litigation that’s going on.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Suspension list:
ITEMS NOT ON BOARD AGENDA OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE (Add to Regular Agenda under Public Services Committee)
a. MR #12006 - Apportionment of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners (Reason for Suspension Waive Rule III: items for printed board agenda shall be presented to the Board
Chair five days prior to the Board meeting. Committee met immediately prior to Board meeting); and GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE
h. Board of Commissioner – Opposition to Michigan House Bills 4862 and 4863 Removing the Designation of the Coordinating Agency from Oakland County Health Division
(Reason for Suspension Waive Rule III: items for printed board agenda shall be presented to the Board Chair five days prior to the Board meeting. Committee met immediately prior to Board meeting).
Discussion followed.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the following proposed amendments:
Move Public Services Committee, item c.: Public Services Committee – Opposition to the Early Release of Violent Offenders by the Michigan Department of Corrections from the Consent Agenda; also Human
Resources Committee item a.: Board of Commissioners – Oakland County Ethics Policy on the Regular Agenda will be referred to the Finance Committee; and add Motion to Discharge from the Finance
Committee to item 11. – Special Order of Business, MR #11317 – Board of Commissioners – Notice of Termination for Board of Commissioner’s Lobbyist Contract.

Discussion followed.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus stating that she will request a public hearing during public comment of the Board meeting.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus stating that he will have Commissioner Matis act as
Chairperson for the Board while he introduces a Report from the Oversight Committee to accept Miscellaneous #12006 Resolution entitled Apportionment of the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners.
Discussion followed.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to circulate two proposed Miscellaneous Resolutions entitled: Board of Commissioners – Support for Veterans’ Employment Services; and
Department of Public Services/Community Corrections Division – Creation of the Warm Wear by WWAM Program for Caucus members who may want to sign them.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding checks for the Lincoln Day Dinner.
Commissioner Weipert addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Proclaim March 13, 2012 as K-9 Veterans Day in Oakland County.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 8:42 p.m. until February 16, 2012, at 8:30 a.m.
