January 31, 2012
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:06 p.m. in the Courthouse
Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.

REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Hoffman, Long, Matis, Nuccio, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub, Weipert. (12)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Gingell, Gosselin. (2) ABSENT: Middleton. (1)
DEMOCRATIC COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Nash. (1)
Quorum present.
Moved by Crawford supported by Nuccio the minutes of the January 17, 2012 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and circulated a sign-up sheet for the Lincoln Day Dinner.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce State Representative, Marty
Knollenberg.
State Representative Marty Knollenberg addressed the Caucus during public comment.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Oakland County Republican Party Chairman, Jim Thienel.
Oakland County Republican Party Chairman, Jim Thienel addressed the Caucus regarding the Lincoln
Day Dinner during public comment.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus stating that the Finance Committee has no
items of concern on the Consent Agenda.

Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus stating that the General Government Committee has no items of concern on the Consent Agenda.
Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus stating that the Planning and Building Committee has no
items of concern on the Consent Agenda.
Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus stating that the Public Services Committee items a. and b. on the Consent Agenda has no issues; he also stated that Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub will be
amending the Consent Agenda to move Public Services Committee item c. to the Regular Agenda.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus stating that there are no items to report on the Regular Agenda for the Finance Committee.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus stating that the General Government Committee items on the
Regular Agenda will be referred.
Commissioner Scott addressed the Caucus and stated that he has no concerns with the Human Resources Committee item a.: entitled Board of Commissioners – Oakland County Ethics Policy and will
refer it to the Finance Committee.

Commissioners Potts addressed the Caucus and stated that there may be some discussion regarding Planning and Building Committee item c. on the Regular Agenda entitled Miscellaneous Resolution
#12004 – Facilities Management/Planning & Economic Development Services – OakGreen Program Acceptance and Disbursement of Donations.

Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus stating that the Public Services Committee items have
no concerns on the Regular Agenda.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding Miscellaneous Resolution #12006 - Apportionment of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners; and distributed a letter from Democratic
Commissioner Tim Greimel.

Commissioner Matis addressed the Caucus regarding the Ad Hoc Committee to Explore Televising and/or Webcasting Board of Commissioners and Committee Meetings, he will report the Committee’s
finding to the General Government Committee.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Undersheriff Mike McCabe and Deputy Executive Gerald Poisson.

Commissioner Weipert addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Proclaim March 13, 2012 as K-9 Veterans Day in Oakland County.

Commissioner Hoffman addressed the Caucus to announce an event taking place Saturday, February 4 to welcome back Veterans from Afghanistan.

Commissioner Potts addressed the Caucus stating that along with Democratic Commissioner Nash, he
will be introducing a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support of the Formation of Regional Partners Advocating Transit Here (R-Path).
Discussion followed with comment by Deputy Executive, Gerald Poisson.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce two proposed Miscellaneous
Resolutions entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for Veterans’ Employment Services; and Department of Public Services/Community Corrections Division – Creation of the Warm Wear by WWAM
Program.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and distributed a letter from the Democratic Commissioners and Chairman of the Oakland County Democratic Party, Frank Houston.

Commissioner Crawford addressed the Caucus regarding pledges for the Walk for Warmth and to
express her support of the Parks and Recreation taking control of the Farmers Market.
Commissioner Bosnic addressed the Caucus regarding the Walk for Warmth Pledges.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 7:50 p.m. until March 6, 2012, at 6:00 p.m.
