IN RE: PROCLAMATION OF OAKLAND COUNTY SAFETY-BELT DAY
To the Oakland County Board of Supervisors
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, the Traffic Improvement Association of Oakland County is currently conducting an intensified
educational campaign to stimulate public awareness of the safety value of automobile safety-belts; and
WHEREAS, recent surveys mdi. a, that the use of automobile safety belts in Oakland County is below the
national average; and
WHEREAS, the County of Oakland is vitally concerned with traffic safety for all County citizens;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Supervisors proclaims Saturday, April
12, 1969, as OAKLAND COUNTY SAFETY-BELT DAY and urges all citizens to adhere to the rules of safe driving
by using their automobile safety-belts on this and every other day of the year.

resolution.

Probation Department, Probate juvenile Court and Sheriff'; Department was referred to your Finance Committee.

The Finance Committee has reviewed the financial feasibility of the addition of a new position to the
Board of Supervisors Achivinistrative office, and finds sufficient funds available in the Contingent Fund and
upon adoption of the foregoing resolution the transfer of the required funds to the Salaries Budget of the Board
of Supervisors is authorized.

IN RE: ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE
To the Oakland County Board of Supervisors
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, the administrative office of the Board of Supervisors is presently understaffed; and
WHEREAS, your Personnel Practices Committee recommends a new position of "Secretary"
for that office; and
WHEREAS, the cost of such position will be $4, 347.00 for the balance of this year; and
WHEREAS, your Committee recommends that a new position of -Secretary" in the Administrative
Office of the Board of Supervisors be approved effective immediately.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a new position of Secretary in the Administrative Office
serving the Board of Supervisors at a cost of $4,347.00 be and the same is hereby established, effective
immediately.
Mr. Chairman, on behalf of the Personnel Practices Committee, I move the adoption of the
foregoing resolution.

regarding the resolution. There were no objections.
Mr. Murphy explained the reasons for the request.

This Committee has: reviewed the financial feasibility of this salary and finds sufficient funds

the transfer of the sum of $3000 .00 from the 1969 Contingent Fund to the Circuit Court jury salary line item to

-WE-IE! Ac: the Public Acts of the State of Michigan for 1968 provides for the creation of
a "JURY BOARD" in Connie s having a population of less than Two Million; and
Beaton 1302 of said Act provides that the Board of Supervisors shall establish an annual
salary in an amouni ed by the Board or, in lieu thereof, a per diem not to exceed $25.00 per day for each
day of service;
WHEREAS, your Committee recommends that this Board of Supervisors establish the annual salary
of such Jury Board is as in an amount of $4,000.00 per year, such Jury Board Members to have no additional
employees for ca ,-a?i ,a...; out the requirements of the Act.
NOW THEP,EFORE BE IT RESOLVED that an annual salary in the amount of $4, 000.00 per year for
the Jury Board of Oakland County be established and that no additional employees for carrying out the requirements
of the act he authorized.
