REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
March 22, 2012
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:30 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Dwyer, Gosselin, Hoffman, Long, Matis,
Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, Scott, Taub, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Gingell. (1)
ABSENT: Crawford. (1) ARRIVED LATE: Runestad. (1) at 8:54 a.m.
DEMOCRATIC COMMISSIONER PRESENT: Woodward. (1)
Quorum present.
Moved by Hoffman supported by Matis the minutes of the March 7, 2012 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Theresa Mungioli addressed the Caucus during public comment to introduce herself and garner support for an appointment to the open District #11 Commissioner seat.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda; there were no concerns with any
items.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to remind them that there will be a Board of Commissioners meeting on March 27, 2012 at 8:30 p.m., Caucus to commence at 8:00 p.m.

Commissioner Scott addressed the Caucus to introduce Miscellaneous Resolution #12075
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Support for SEMCOG’s Sustainable Community Recognition Program, which he will refer to the General Government Committee.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Miscellaneous Resolution #12078
entitled: Board of Commissioners - Observance of the Days of Holocaust Remembrance in Oakland County – May 1 through May 8, 2012, which she will refer to the General Government Committee.
Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Miscellaneous Resolution #12079
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Support for the Air National Guard and Reserve; She will be requesting suspension of the rules and move for immediate consideration.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding Democratic Commissioner Nash’s motion to discharge Miscellaneous Resolution #12018 entitled: Board of Commissioners – Oakland
County Ethics Policy from the Finance Committee; she introduced Corporation Counsel Judy Cunningham to comment.
Corporation Counsel Judy Cunningham addressed the Caucus advising them that the Board of
Commissioners has no authority to set ethics policies.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to invite any Caucus members that are interested to a tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts on Friday, April 13.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to bring attention to the memo distributed
addressing the following issues: Commissioner Potts will introduce Miscellaneous Resolution #12076 entitled: Board of Commissioners – Tri-Party Road Improvement Program Fiscal Year 2012
Appropriation – City of Bloomfield Hills – Long Lake Road at Epping Lane – Project No. 51221, which he will refer to the Finance Committee; the Economic Luncheon will be at the Troy Marriot on Thursday, April
26, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.; e-mail communication problems; and lastly, there will be a Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.

Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed Corporation Counsel Judy Cunningham to ask procedural
questions that will pertain to the Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Caucus meeting.

Senior Board of Commissioner Analyst, Harvey Wedell addressed the Caucus on behalf of Commissioner Runestad who will be introducing Miscellaneous Resolution #12077 entitled: Board of Commissioners –
Support for Legislation Making Lottery Winners Ineligible for Public Assistance, he will refer it to the General Government Committee.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 10:25 a.m. until March 27, 2012, at 8:00 p.m.
