Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Nuccio, Potts, River, Runestad, Scott, Taub. (14) ABSENT: Gosselin. (1) ARRIVED LATE: Weipert. (1) at 7:35 p.m. DEMOCRATIC COMMISSIONER PRESENT: Zack. (1) Quorum present. Moved by Bosnic supported by Crawford the minutes of the April 5, 2012 Republican Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. Democratic Commissioner Helaine Zack addressed the Caucus during public comment to express her personal opinion regarding the apportionment procedure. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the following administrative items: updating contact information, the Reagan Dinner on April 17, 2012 and a reminder about Youth in Government Day on April 12, 2012. Discussion followed. Commissioner Crawford addressed the Caucus regarding her recent visit to the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) conference and made some suggestions on how the Caucus can improve their communication and marketing to constituents including: Nurse on Call cards, NACo brochures, Oakland County Parks Express program, MAC media relations guide and she also suggested a workshop on utilizing social media. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding the proposed maps and asked if there were any questions or comments from the public. There were none. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Deputy County Executive Bob Daddow. Deputy County Executive Bob Daddow addressed the Caucus and distributed a handout regarding the Library for the Visually Impaired and Physically Handicapped. Discussion followed regarding a request for proposal with the Rochester Hills Public Library. Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. April 11, 2012 213 Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Deputy County Executive Gerald Poisson. Deputy County Executive Gerald Poisson addressed the Caucus regarding the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) millage request. He expressed that the County Executive would like the Caucus to support a resolution creating an authority, similar to the Zoological Authority. DIA Millage Campaign Manager Eddie McDonald addressed the Caucus to answer any questions. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to propose a resolution at an upcoming Board of Commissioners meeting and refer it to Committee. Discussion followed. Deputy County Executive Gerald Poisson addressed the Caucus regarding the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) public transportation system. Discussion followed. Commissioner Scott addressed the Caucus regarding Miscellaneous Resolution #11229 entitled Board of Commissioners – Creation of the Veterans’ Services Advisory Council for Oakland County which was introduced by Democratic Commissioner Nash on September 22, 2011 and referred to the General Government Committee. Commissioner Scott proposes a study group be introduced with five (5) Commissioners (3 Republicans and 2 Democrats) to further investigate the idea of the necessity of a Veterans’ Services Advisory Council providing services that may already be provided through the Oakland County Veteran’s Services and through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
