Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Runestad, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (14) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: (0) Quorum present. Moved by Spisz supported by Gosselin the minutes of the March 6, 2014 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. Ross Gavin, Administrative Assistant to Andy Meisner, Oakland County Treasurer, addressed the Caucus regarding the Treasurer’s Office notice to taxpayers. Discussion followed. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding Planning and Building Committee item c.: entitled Sheriff’s Office – Contract Amendment #1 for Law Enforcement Services in the City of Rochester Hills 2013-2015 and stated she will add the item to the Consent Agenda and will be requesting suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration. (Waiver of Rule XIIC – Resolution was taken up by the Human Resources Committee immediately prior to today’s meeting.) Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item c.: entitled Board of Commissioners – Building Authority Appointment. Discussion followed Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for House Version of HB 4593 to Regulate the Scrap Metal Industry, Prohibit Cash Payments and Establish a Three Day Waiting Period for Purchases. Discussion followed. Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Recognition of June 2014 as National Safety Month in Oakland County and Support for Efforts to Promote Firearms Safety and stated he will refer the Resolution to the Public Services Committee. 84 Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. March 19, 2014 Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus to give an update regarding the Detroit Water and Sewer Board. Discussion followed. Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Evaluation of Alternatives to Continued Utilization of the Detroit Water and Sewerage System (DWSD) by Oakland County Government and Communities and stated that he will refer the Resolution to the Planning and Building Committee. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to announce that Commissioner Hatchett will be honored by the Women Officials’ Network (WON) on April 30th, 2014 and proposed changing the meeting time of the April 30th, 2014 Board of Commissioners Meeting. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Public Awareness and Education Forum for Women Veterans. Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Public Awareness and Education Implementation for Gun Violence report of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and stated that the resolution will be referred to the Public Services Committee. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive who addressed the Caucus regarding the SMART bus millage renewal. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding public phone calls concerning county road conditions. Discussion followed. Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding the deceased voter in Pontiac and Deputy County Clerk Sheila Cummings explained that the situation was the result of a clerical error and not election fraud. Discussion followed. Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to make an announcement regarding the Michigan Associations of Counties (MAC) Board meeting.
