Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Long, Matis, Middleton, Runestad, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (13) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Bosnic (1) Quorum present. Moved by Dwyer supported by Spisz the minutes of the May 15, 2014 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment. Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus to give an update on the City of Detroit’s bankruptcy proceedings and to answer questions. Discussion followed. Jim VerPloeg, Admin Director Program and Operation Analyst addressed the Caucus to remind the Commissioners that during the election season county staff and funds cannot be utilized in campaigning. George Miller, Director of Health and Human Services addressed the Caucus regarding the inaccurate data contained in the Lighthouse of Oakland County article on poverty in Oakland County and answered questions. Discussion followed. Matthew Gibb, Deputy County Executive, Laurie Van Pelt, Director of Management & Budget, and Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus to explain Proposal 14-1 and to answer questions. Discussion followed. Mark Newman, Director of Public Services addressed the Caucus regarding an animal shelter in Farmington Hills and to answer questions. Discussion followed. Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the updates made to the agenda prior to the Board meeting. 254 Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. June 11, 2014 Commissioner Matis addressed the Caucus regarding the formation of a new “SEMCOG” committee which will deal with transportation issues and requested that an Oakland County Elected Official sit on the board. Discussion followed. Commissioner Weipert addressed the Caucus to volunteer to sit on the SEMCOG committee. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding General Government item b: entitled Miscellaneous Resolution #14127 – Board of Commissioners – Extension of Professional Services Contract for Government Relations Consulting Firm to Public Affairs Associates, Inc. and announced that Commissioner Gershenson will be introducing an amendment on the floor to change the length of the contract from three years to one year. Discussion followed. Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding General Government item b: entitled Board of Commissioners – Regional Convention Facility Authority – Citizens Advisory Council Appointment to discuss the appointment candidates and stated that both were exceptional choices for the position.
