REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
October 23, 2014
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:46 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Long, Matis, Middleton,
Runestad, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Crawford, Hoffman. (2)
Quorum present.
Moved by Middleton supported by Spisz the minutes of the October 8, 2014 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Ann Hayes.
Ann Hayes addressed the Caucus during public comment regarding Animal Control.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Gene Gargaro, Detroit Institute of Arts,
Board Chair and Thomas Guastello, Chair, Oakland County Art Institute Authority.
Gene Gargaro, Detroit Institute of Arts, Board Chair and Thomas Guastello, Chair, Oakland County Art Institute Authority, addressed the Caucus to discuss the Detroit Institute of Arts top two executives pay
raises.

The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus requesting that Finance Committee item a.: entitled MR 14245 – Board of Commissioners – Funding for Safe and Healthy Kids Partnership with Oakland Schools
to Provide Anti-Bullying Training for Educators and School Administrators be moved from the Consent Agenda to the Regular Agenda.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that the Pre General Campaign Statements
are due October 24, 2014.

Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. October 23, 2014
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to thank the Commissioners for their support on the upcoming Human Trafficking event.
Commissioner Zack addressed the Caucus and stated that she will be introducing a new proposed
Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Opposition to DTE Residential Rate Increases and Costs Allocation Plan Proposed before Michigan Public Service Commission and Improve
Public Notification.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Jim VerPloeg, Administrative Director of Programs & Operations Analyst.
Jim VerPloeg, Administrative Director of Programs & Operations Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding
the 2015 Natural Select Open Enrollment and stated that Wednesday, October 29, 2014 is the last day to enroll. He also announced that Helen Hanger, Board of Commissioners, Senior Committee Analyst has
retired.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that the Re-Organizational Caucus meeting is December 1, 2014.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC)
New County Commissioner Workshops 2014.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Tim Soave, Manager of Fiscal Services.
Tim Soave, Manager of Fiscal Services addressed the Caucus to give an update on the Regional Transit Authority.
The Caucus adjourned at 10:33 a.m. until November 19, 2014, at 7:00 p.m.
