REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
November 19, 2014
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:16 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bosnic, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Long, Matis, Middleton,
Runestad, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Crawford, Hoffman. (2)
Quorum present.
Moved by Spisz supported by Bosnic the minutes of the October 23, 2014 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive.
Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive, addressed the Caucus regarding the County Executive – 2014
Competitive Grant Assistance Program (CGAP) Grant Application/Acceptance.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive.
Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive, addressed the Caucus regarding the Oakland County Executive Elite 40 Under 40 Program and stated nominations and entries are being accepted through December 3,
2014. He also stated for more information please visit www.advantage.com website.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus on behalf of Jim Ryan, Legislative Lobbyist who sent his regards on not being able to attend the Caucus meeting.
Commissioner Middleton addressed the Caucus regarding Wayne County Executive (Elect), Warren C.
Evans, who stated that he will work with Bob Daddow, Wayne County Transition Team Budget Assistant on the debt for the City of Detroit.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to commend the success of the Board sponsored
Human Trafficking event.

The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Commissioner Gingell.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding Appointments; and the process in appointing positions for the Road Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that the Re-Organizational Caucus meeting
is December 1, 2014; and will be held at White Lake Oaks at 6:00 p.m.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that Commissioner Dave Woodward will be introducing a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Opposition to House
Bill 5953 Modifying the Schedule Elective Term of Office of the Oakland County Executive; and will request suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that Commissioner Dave Woodward will be
introducing a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of commissioners – Approval and Submission of Amendment #1 – Articles of Incorporation of the Great Lakes Water Authority; and will
request suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Undersheriff, Michael McCabe.
Undersheriff, Michael McCabe addressed the Caucus regarding MR #14256 – Board of Commissioners – Support of Senate Bill 1049 Granting Powers Related to Opioid Antagonist to Law Enforcement Officers;
and MR #14255 Board of Commissioners – Resolution in Support of House Bill 5682 to Combat Gang Related Criminal Activity.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled
Board of Commissioners – Calling upon Holly Township Officials to Maintain Power Service to the Property Located at 1055 South Holly Road; and requested that it be referred to the General Government
Committee. Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus and requested suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Commissioner Runestad.
Commissioner Runestad addressed the Caucus and stated that he and Commissioner Woodward will be
introducing a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Department of Health and Human Services/Health Division - Youth Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Campaign; and that it will be
referred to the General Government Committee.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners Sponsorship of Events, Activities, Adjunct Committees and stated that he will
refer it to the General Government Committee.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding a luncheon to honor Pecky Lewis on December 10, 2014 at 12:00 p.m., at White Lake Oaks; she also stated that a proclamation will be
presented.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to thank Chris Ward, Senior Board of Commission Analyst, and Julia Ruffin, Board of Commission Community Liaison, for their exceptional job on the
Human Trafficking event.
Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus regarding the Board Rules and inquired about updating them.
The Caucus adjourned at 8:03 p.m. until December 11, 2014, at 8:30 a.m.
