REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
September 17, 2015
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:41 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Kowall,
Long, Matis, Middleton, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (14)
Quorum present
George Phifer, Director and Rebecca Franchock, Controller of Huron-Clinton Metro Parks addressed the Caucus to thank the Commissioners for support of the tax levy and continued partnership with the
County.
Discussion followed.
Moved by Spisz supported by Hoffman the minutes of the August 26, 2015 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
David Hieber, Manager, Equalization Division addressed the Caucus regarding the issue of “Dark Stores”.
Discussion followed.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Chairperson Shelley Taub called a brief recess.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding Finance Committee item a.: entitled Fiscal Year 2016 General Appropriations Act and 2016 General Property Tax Rates and stated an amendment to the
resolution would be proposed.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item c.: entitled Board of Commissioners – Appointments to the Oakland County Canvassing Board and stated a new
letter had been submitted with Heide Oprisiu substituted for Joyce MacLeish, and that the report would be accepted, then modified prior to the vote.

Keith Lerminiaux, Corporation Counsel addressed the Caucus regarding harassing communications.
