REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
February 4, 2016
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:40 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee
Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Kochenderfer, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (14) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0)
Quorum present.
No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment.
Moved by Scott supported by Fleming the minutes of the January 20, 2016 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus regarding MR #16009 – Sheriff’s Office – Aviation Unit Engine Overhaul for Air 1 and MR #16010 – Sheriff’s Office – Kronos Telestaff Automated Scheduling
Software Project Implementation. He also stated he would request these resolutions be adopted at the Board of Commissioners Meeting.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Hoffman addressed the Caucus to inform them that there will be a Human Resources
Committee meeting prior to the Board of Commissioners meeting.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to remind them that the State of the County Address will be given on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., and requested that the Commissioners be in
attendance. Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that seating will begin at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a reception afterwards.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Commissioner Jackson. Commissioner Jackson addressed the Caucus to introduce a Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Designation of February 7, 2016 as the 16th Annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. She stated that she will be requesting Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration under New and Miscellaneous Business due to time restraints. She will also be introducing a Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Opposition to House Bill
5126 and House Bill 5127, and stated she will refer it to the General Government Committee.
Shane Bies, Administrator, Public Health Nursing Services, Health & Human Services – Health Division addressed the Caucus regarding two proposed Miscellaneous Resolutions entitled Board of
Commissioners – Designation of February 7, 2016 as the 16th Annual National Black HIV/AIDS
Awareness Day; and Board of Commissioners – Opposition to House Bill 5126 and House Bill 5127.
Discussion followed.
