REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
April 21, 2016
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:50 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Kochenderfer,
Kowall, Long, Middleton, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (13) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Fleming. (1)
Quorum present.
Commissioner Gosselin addressed the Caucus to announce he will not be running for re-election this
year.
Moved by Crawford supported by Middleton the minutes of the March 30, 2016 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding General Government item b.: entitled MR #16047 - Board of Commissioners – Establishment of a Study Group on Energy Infrastructure and
Reliability. She stated that the resolution would be moved from the Consent Agenda to the Regular Agenda, then amended and presented for adoption.
Discussion followed.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus and stated that she and Commissioner Dwyer would be
presenting a Proclamation honoring Michael Bouchard, Oakland County Sheriff.
Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Recognition of National Law Enforcement Officer Week – May 15 – May 21,
2016. He also stated he will request Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Support for Water Testing and Analysis of Michigan Public and Nonpublic
Schools, and stated she will refer it to the General Government Committee.
Commissioner Hoffman addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Recognition of National Correctional Officers’ Week – May 1 - 7, 2016. He
stated he will request Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution for Commissioner Gershenson entitled Board of Commissioners - Invest in Michigan Communities and
Reform Local Government Funding.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution for Commissioner Woodward entitled Board of Commissioners – Temporarily Suspend Travel by Any County
Employee to the State of North Carolina Until HB 2 is Overturned.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled Board of Commissioners – Establishment of a Pilot Local Road Improvement Matching Fund Program.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution for
Commissioner Jackson entitled Board of Commissioners – Declaration of May 25, 2016 as National Missing Children’s Day in Oakland County. She stated she will request Suspension of the Board Rules for
Immediate Consideration.
Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus regarding “Youth in Government Day” on April 25th.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding moving the May 5th Caucus to 9:00 a.m.

The Caucus adjourned at 10:52 a.m. until May 5, 2016, at 9:00 a.m.
