REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
August 31, 2016
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:27 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Gosselin, Hoffman, Kochenderfer,
Kowall, Middleton, Scott, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Crawford, Long. (2)
Quorum present.
No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment.
Moved by Kochenderfer supported by Gosselin the minutes of the August 18, 2016 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Middleton addressed the Caucus regarding Finance Committee item c.: entitled MR
#16228 – Board of Commissioners – Pilot Local Road Improvement Program Fiscal Year 2016 Appropriation – Village of Beverly Hills – Rehabilitation of Evergreen Drive – Project No. 2016-18. He
stated that he would request this resolution be moved from the Consent Agenda to the Regular Agenda, and the resolution be amended to replace the word Drive with the word Road prior to the resolution being
presented for adoption at the Board of Commissioners Meeting.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Suspension List as follows: ITEMS ON BOARD AGENDA
GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE MR #16213 – Department of Health and Human Services/Health Division – Huron Valley School
District Service Agreement Amendment 3 Acceptance. (Reason for Suspension, Waiver of Rule XII (C.2): Resolution was not referred to the Finance Committee
prior to being presented for adoption.) MR #16214 – Department of Health and Human Services/Health Division – Request to Transfer
Radiological Response Team Equipment to Oakland County Hazmat Teams (MABAS 3201 and MABAS 3202).

Undersheriff Michael McCabe, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office addressed the Caucus regarding an inadvertent MDOC release.

George Miller, Director, Health and Human Services addressed the Caucus regarding two reports of West
Nile Virus and two reports of the Zika Virus in Oakland County.

Art Holdsworth, Director, Facilities Management addressed the Caucus regarding the construction on Court Tower Boulevard South.
Discussion followed.
Bob Daddow, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus regarding the Great Lakes Water
Authority.

Mark Newman, Director, Public Services addressed the Caucus regarding construction of the new Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center.

Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst
addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo.

Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding a short presentation by Comcast that will be added to the Board of Commissioners Meeting Agenda.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to announce there will be meetings of the Human
Resources Committee and the Planning and Building Committee immediately after the Caucus recesses.
The Caucus adjourned at 8:03 p.m. until September 22, 2016, at 8:30 a.m.
