REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
January 11, 2017
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 4:08 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer,
Kowall, Long, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (13) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Crawford. (1)
Quorum present.
Moved by Hoffman supported by Middleton the minutes of the December 8, 2016 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Notice of Cancellation of Contractual Agreement with the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. He also stated that he will request Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate
Consideration.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled: Board of Commissioners – Designation of January 2017 as National Slavery and Human
Trafficking Prevention Month in Oakland County. He also stated that he will request Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration.
Commissioner Spisz addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Establishment of an Oakland County Human Trafficking Task Force, and stated he will refer it to the General Government Committee.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus to welcome the three newly elected Commissioners: Adam
Kochenderfer, Tom Berman and Doug Tietz, then presented Commissioners Berman and Tietz with their Oakland County badges.
Chris Ward, Admin Director Program & Operations Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus
Memo.

Chairperson Shelley Taub encouraged Caucus members to become involved in the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC).
The Caucus adjourned at 4:27 p.m. until January 26, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
