REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
March 15, 2017
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:16 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kowall, Long,
Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Berman, Kochenderfer. (2)
Quorum present.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to thank Theresa Mungioli, Oakland County Republican
Party Chairperson and Greg Dildilian, Oakland County Republican Party Vice-Chairperson. She also announced that the Commissioner Verification form needs to be filled out for the 2017 Oakland County
Directory and returned to the Clerk’s office.
Moved by Middleton supported by Fleming the minutes of the February 15, 2017 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item f.: entitled Community Mental Health Authority Interviews – Reappointments on the Regular Agenda.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item g.: entitled
Health and Human Services – Homeland Security Division – 2016 Memorandum of Understanding – Transfer/Acceptance of Equipment on the Regular Agenda; and stated it will be referred to the Finance
Committee.
Commissioner Weipert addressed the Caucus regarding Planning and Building Committee item e.: entitled Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs – Approval of 2017 No HAZ
Interlocal Agreement on the Regular Agenda; and stated it will be referred to the Finance Committee.
Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus regarding Public Services Committee item i.: entitled Sheriff’s Office – Remodeling and Expansion of Forensic Laboratory Toxicology Unit; and item j.: entitled
Sheriff’s Office – Use of Forfeited Funds on the Regular Agenda; and stated they will be referred to the Finance Committee.

Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding Special Order of Business item: entitled MR #17026 – Board of Commissioners – Establishment of an Oakland County Health Care for All
Commission.
Discussion followed.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce two proposed Miscellaneous Resolutions entitled Board of Commissioners – Recognizing National County Government Month in Oakland County –
April 2017 and Board of Commissioners – Designation of April 24, 2017 as Armenian Martyrs’ Day in Oakland County.
Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst
addressed the Caucus to read the Caucus Memo.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding (MAC) Michigan Association of Counties meeting held on March 27, 2017 & March 28, 2017; and NACo Municipal Bond issues, Otsego County
attending the Economic Development Program.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding the Study Group for Bidding and Contracts.
Discussion followed.
Jordie Kramer, Director of Human Resources addressed the Caucus regarding Health Screenings.
George Miller, Director of Health and Human Services addressed the Caucus to announce his Retirement.
The Caucus adjourned at 8:18 p.m. until March 30, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
