REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
May 10, 2017
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:14 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer,
Kowall, Long, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (13) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Berman. (1)
Quorum present.
No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment.
Moved by Kochenderfer supported by Long the minutes of the April 26, 2017 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst
addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo. There will be thirty-three proposed Local Road Improvement resolutions introduced at the Board of Commissioners meeting. He also reminded the
Caucus that tomorrow is the final day for the County Health Screening, Youth in Government day is Monday, May 15th, the County Gun Safety event is Tuesday, June 6th and the Doing Business with
Oakland County event is on Friday, July 14th. He stated that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners has been honored with three Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for
their Lock-it-Up Oakland program, Anti School Bullying program and the Local Road Improvement program.

Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed miscellaneous resolution
entitled: Board of Commissioners – Sponsorship of 2017 Arts, Beats and Eats Festival.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed miscellaneous resolution entitled: Board of Commissioners – In Support of Safe Staffing Levels of Nurses at Tenet DMC Huron Valley –
Sinai Hospital.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to inform them of the sad news that Oakland County Probation Agent Candice Dunn was killed in an automobile accident while returning home after receiving
the Michigan Department of Corrections 2017 Parole/Probation Agent of the Year Award.
