REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
October 11, 2017
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:25 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kowall,
Long, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Kochenderfer, Tietz. (2)
Quorum present.
Kathy Forzley, Director, Health and Human Services addressed the Caucus to urge everyone to get their
flu vaccinations as soon as possible this year. She reported that there has been one death attributed to the flu in Oakland County already this season.
Moved by Middleton supported by Berman the minutes of the September 28, 2017 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Middleton addressed the Caucus regarding Finance Committee item c.: entitled Board of
Commissioners – Establishment of a School Drinking Water Station Program Policy.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item d.: entitled Board of Commissioners – Oakland County Department of Health and Human Services Agency Board
Appointment and item e.: entitled Board of Commissioners – Solid Waste Planning Committee Appointments.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus regarding Public Services Committee item c.: entitled
Circuit Court – Approve Creation of One (1) Additional Circuit Court Judgeship Effective January 1, 2019. He stated the resolution would be referred to the Human Resources Committee and the Finance
Committee.
Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo.

Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus regarding the new parking lot gates. He stated that the gates will remain in the open position until the Electronic ID Card system is in place. This
is being done in order to avoid backups in the morning as employees are entering.
The Caucus adjourned at 8:13 p.m. until October 26, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
