REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
October 26, 2017
Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:53 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Crawford, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer,
Kowall, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (12) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Dwyer, Long. (2)
Quorum present.
Chairperson Shelley Taub welcomed members of Leadership Oakland attending the Caucus and
announced that today will be a joint Caucus so all of the Commissioners can be present for the discussion regarding the Farmington water main break.
Moved by Middleton supported by Fleming the minutes of the October 11, 2017 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Suspension List.
Robert Daddow, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus regarding the water main break in
Farmington that has affected 304,000 Oakland County residents and how Oakland County has worked to lessen the negative impact on these residents
Discussion followed.
Kathy Forzley, Director, Health and Human Services addressed the Caucus regarding the “boil water”
advisories for the impacted areas.
Discussion followed.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to share the news of the passing of former Oakland County Commissioner Kay Schmid who served from 1991 until 2000.
Members of Leadership Oakland introduced themselves to the Caucus.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding the Suspension List. He stated that MR #17282
entitled: County Executive/Compliance Office and Parks and Recreation – Dedicated Auditing Support Position creation will be brought back before the Board for reconsideration. There are also two proposed

Miscellaneous Resolutions entitled: Board of Commissioners – Oakland County Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program – Partnership with Huron River Watershed Council and Board of Commissioners –
Opposing Senate Bill 386 Invalidation of Tax Foreclosure. He stated that he will be requesting Suspension of the Board Rules for Immediate Consideration under New Business for both resolutions.

Keith Lerminiaux, Corporation Counsel addressed the Caucus regarding Senate Bill 386.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus to introduce Eric Wilson, Ron Fowkes and Greg Jamian
from the Road Commission for Oakland County.
The Caucus adjourned at 10:43 a.m. until November 9, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
