HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 2017.12.07 - 8058729 OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES December 7, 2017 Meeting called to order by Caucus Vice-Chairperson Tom Berman at 8:55 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Tietz, Weipert. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Kochenderfer, Spisz, Taub. (3) Quorum present. No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment. Moved by Fleming supported by Middleton the minutes of the November 9, 2017 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Vice-Chairperson Tom Berman addressed the Caucus regarding the Consent Agenda. He stated that Finance Committee item a.: entitled Veterans’ Service Division – Acceptance of Donation will be moved to Public Services Committee item i. and remain on the Consent Agenda. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus and stated that there would be three proposed Miscellaneous Resolutions introduced at the Board of Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Dwyer addressed the Caucus to introduce a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled: Board of Commissioners – Oppose Senate Bills 584,585 and 586 – Authorizing Individuals to Carry Concealed Weapons in Churches, Schools, Stadiums, Bars and Other Designated Gun Free Zones. He stated that he will request suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration under New Business. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus and stated that he would be willing to draft a letter of concern to State Representative Jim Runestad regarding Senate Bills 584,585 and 586 on behalf of the Board of Commissioners Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo.
