March 21, 2018 162 OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES March 21, 2018 Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 6:15 p.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Crawford, Dwyer, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (14) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: None. (0) Quorum present. Moved by Fleming supported by Spisz the minutes of the March 8, 2018 Caucus be approved. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved. The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda. Laurie Van Pelt, Director, Management and Budget addressed the Caucus regarding new required reporting of funding levels for the County’s pension and retiree health care programs for the State of Michigan PA 202 of 2017 and her visit to Japan as part of the Japanese American Leadership Delegation. Discussion followed. Dan Stencil, Executive Officer, Parks and Recreation Commission and Gerald Fisher, Chairperson, Parks and Recreation Commission addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed request for a millage renewal on the August 2018 ballot. Discussion followed. Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo and the GreenFest being held at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, April 14th. Discussion followed. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled: Sheriff’s Office – Revised Police and Fire Dispatch Service Agreement with the City of Auburn Hills, April 1, 2018 – March 31, 2021. He stated that he will be requesting suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration under New Business. Republican Caucus Minutes Continued. March 21, 2018 162 Commissioner Crawford addressed the Caucus regarding a proposed Miscellaneous Resolution entitled: Board of Commissioners – Opposition of Michigan Senate Bill 523 and Michigan House Bill 5134, Amend the State Convention Facility Development Act. He stated that he will be requesting suspension of the Board Rules for immediate consideration under New Business. Discussion followed. Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus regarding funding for the RTA and the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART). He stated that the information regarding Oakland County and the RTA can be found online at oakgov.com/exec/transit. Discussion followed.
