OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
July 19, 2018 Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:50 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Dwyer, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (11) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Crawford, Fleming, Spisz. (3)
Quorum present.
Eric Wilson, Chairman, Road Commission for Oakland County addressed the Caucus to provide an update on current and upcoming projects.
Discussion followed.
Michael Karson, CEO and President, Area Agency on Aging 1-B addressed the Caucus to express appreciation for the Board of Commissioners support of the Agency.
Shelley Taub, Chairperson addressed the Caucus to inform them that the Oakland County Information
Technology Department and the Treasurer’s Office were honored with awards presented by the National Association of Counties at their annual conference.
Moved by Kochenderfer supported by Tietz the minutes of the June 13, 2018 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Middleton addressed the Caucus regarding Human Resources Committee item a.: entitled
Department of Human Resources, Corporation Counsel, Purchasing and Compliance, and Information Technology – Electronic Communications and Use of Technology Policy. He stated that Commissioner
Hoffman will request this be moved from the Consent agenda to the Regular Agenda as an amendment is being proposed.

Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding Economic Development and Community
Affairs item a.: entitled MR #18251 – Board of Commissioners – Resolution Urging Regional Leaders to Continue Discussions Related to Improving Transit in Oakland County and the Region. Discussion followed

Commissioner Long addressed the Caucus regarding General Government Committee item e.: entitled Department of Health and Human Services/Health Division – Adjustment to the Health Division Fee Schedule and Position Changes.
Discussion followed. Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding several new resolutions that will be introduced at today’s Board of Commissioners Meeting. Discussion followed.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo. Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst
addressed the Caucus regarding the District Report Template and Constituent Survey Questions.
