OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
September 27, 2018 Meeting called to order by Caucus Chairperson Shelley Taub at 8:47 a.m. in the Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Roll called.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Berman, Crawford, Fleming, Gingell, Hoffman, Kochenderfer, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Spisz, Taub, Tietz, Weipert. (13) EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Dwyer. (1)
Quorum present.
Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive and Mike Timm, Director of Information Technology addressed the Caucus regarding a ransomware cyber attack on a local jurisdiction.
Discussion followed.
Chairperson Shelley Taub and Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding proposed legislation that addresses the Open Meeting Act for Homeland Security and Cyber Security.
Discussion followed.
Moved by Berman supported by Kowall the minutes of the September 5, 2018 Caucus be approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
The members of the Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding the FY 2019 General Appropriation Act. He
stated that there would be a Public Hearing, then four amendments introduced.
Commissioner Berman addressed the Caucus regarding the amendment being introduced that focuses on the Oakland County Clerk - Register of Deeds/Election Division’s even year ballot issues.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the Women’s Leadership Conference, held
on October 26, 2018. She recognized moderator Laurie Van Pelt, Director, Oakland County Department of Management and Budget and keynote speaker Irene Hirano Inouye, President and Founder, U.S. –
Japan Council.
Chairperson Shelley Taub addressed the Caucus regarding the budget amendment for the Oakland County School Breakfast Program.

Chris Ward, Board of Commissioners Administration Director, Program and Operational Analyst addressed the Caucus regarding the Caucus Memo. Discussion followed.
Jordie Kramer, Director, Human Resources addressed the Caucus regarding the OakFit Wellness Fair being held today from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Oakland Schools Auditorium. Commissioner Gingell addressed the Caucus regarding an affordable housing resolution being introduced by Commissioner Zack.
Discussion followed. Bob Daddow, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus regarding water and sewer bonds.
The Caucus adjourned at 11:02 a.m. until February 1, 2018, at 8:30 a.m.
