REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
May 8, 2008
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Eileen Kowall at 8:47 a.m. in the Courthouse
Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bullard, Crawford, Douglas, Gingell, Gosselin,
Jacobsen, Kowall, Long, Middleton, Potts, Rogers, Scott. (12)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Potter. (1)
Quorum present.
Moved by Crawford supported by Jacobsen the minutes of the April 24, 2008 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
Jacqueline Jones, Vice President of United Way for Southeastern Michigan, addressed the Republican
Caucus and answered questions regarding United Way’s 211 program.
Commissioner Sue Ann Douglas introduced Jeanne Blake, County Commissioner – District 17 candidate,
to the Republican Caucus.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Commissioner Michael Gingell introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners -
Support for Recognizing the Month of May, 2008 as Mental Health Month in Oakland County.
Republican Caucus Chairperson Eileen Kowall introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Opposition to Detroit River International Crossing Project.
Gerry Poisson, Deputy County Executive, addressed the Caucus regarding the Detroit Zoo.
Robert Gosselin, Republican Caucus Vice Chairperson, assumed the Chair.
Democratic Commissioner Tim Burns introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners
– Oakland County Recognizes June 8 – 14, 2008 as National Flag Week and June 14, 2008 as Flag Day.
Republican Caucus Chairperson Eileen Kowall re-assumed the Chair.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 9:22 a.m. until May 22, 2008 at 8:30 a.m.
