BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
December 17, 2008
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Brad Jacobsen at 5:41 p.m. in the
Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bullard, Douglas, Gingell, Gosselin, Jacobsen,
Long, Middleton, Potter, Potts, Runestad, Scott, Taub. (12)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Capello. (1)
Quorum present.
There was no public comment.
Commissioner Bill Bullard, Jr., reported that he has talked to the Prosecutor-Elect and Treasurer-Elect
and has had some discussion with the Treasurer-Elect on land banking.
Richard Poling, Jr., addressed the Caucus regarding land banking.
Commissioner Scott and Sr. Committee Coordinator Helen Hanger reviewed proposed 2009 Board Rules
and discussion ensued regarding amendments.
Gosselin moved and Scott supported the 2009 Board Rules as amended. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Commissioner Gingell distributed material regarding Agenda Item 1 – working as a team, goals and
taking a caucus position with resulting discussion.
Discussion was held regarding appointments to the Oakland County Road Commission and the Oakland
County-Michigan Department of Human Resources Board (OC-DHS).
Commissioner Gingell explained that there has been discussion with the Democratic Caucus Chair on
collaboration. Committee assignments were discussed.
Gosselin moved and Potts supported the motion to add one Democratic seat to the General Government
Committee and one Democratic seat to the Public Services Committee. Motion carried on a voice vote.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda for January 8, 2009 and minor
revisions were made.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 8:21 p.m. until January 8, 2009, at 5:30 p.m.
