REPUBLICAN CAUCUS MINUTES
May 7, 2009
Meeting called to order by Republican Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen at 8:52 a.m. in the
Courthouse Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan.
Roll called.
REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bullard, Douglas, Gingell, Gosselin, Jacobsen,
Long, Middleton, Potter, Runestad, Scott. (10)
EXCUSED ABSENCE WITH NOTICE: Capello, Potts, Taub. (3)
Quorum present.
Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen stated that today is National Prayer Day. He led the Pledge of
Allegiance and Commissioner Gosselin gave the invocation.
Moved by Middleton supported by Scott the minutes of the April 23, 2009 Republican Caucus be
approved.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the minutes were approved.
John Bowker, John Paul Torres and Bruce Fealk spoke during public comment.
The members of the Republican Caucus discussed the Board Agenda.
Caucus Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen stated that he will ask for reconsideration of the appointment of
John Paul Torres to the Community of Mental Health Authority.
Commissioner Runestad introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of Commissioners - Requiring
Oakland County Contractors and Vendors to Register and Participate in the Federal E-Verify Program.
Commissioner Runestad stated that he will ask to suspend the rules for immediate consideration of the
resolution. Discussion followed.
Gerald Poisson, Deputy County Executive, addressed the Republican Caucus.
Democratic Commissioner Eric Coleman introduced a proposed resolution entitled Board of
Commissioners – Observance of National Missing Children’s Day on May 25th and the “Take 25” Initiative.
Republican Chairperson Bradford Jacobsen recognized Gerald Fisher, candidate for the Parks and
Recreation Commission, who was in attendance.
Deputy County Executive Robert Daddow and Richard Skarritt of the Road Commission addressed the
Caucus.
The Republican Caucus adjourned at 9:35 a.m. until May 21, 2009, at 8:30 a.m.
