O. DOGS AS USED IN THIS OPDINANCE
The Oakland County Board of Supervisors,
Pontiac, Eichigan.
Section I
(a) 'Zo person shall own or harbor any dog six months of
age or over in the County of Oakland, unless such clog shall be licens-
ed as hereinafter provided and unless such dog shall at all times
wear a collar or harness with metal license tag attached.
(b) yo dog shall permitted to go beyond the preaises
of its owner unless under the reasonable control of some person, nor
under any conditions unless such dog has been immunized against
rabies witlein a period of one year and in a manner satisfactory to
the Health Department of the County.
(c) 'So female dog shall be permitted to go beyond the
premises of her owner when she is in heat unless such feeiale dog is
properly held in leash.
Section 2
Any person in possession of any dog or who shall suffer
any dog to remain about his premises for a period of five days shall
be deemed the owner thereof under this Ordinance.
Section 3
(a) It shall be the duty of any person owning or harbor-
ing a dog which has contracted rabies, or which is suspected of having
a dog which has contracted rabies, or which is suspected of having
rabies, or which has been bitten by any animal known or suspected of
being affected with rabies, or which has bitten any person, to im-

mediately notify the Police/Department or the Health Department that
such person has such dog in his possession.
(b) It Shall be the duty of the Police or Sheriff's De-
partment or the Health Officer upoh notification that any dog is
known or suspected of having rabies to immediately take such action
as may appear necessary to have such dog destroyed or properly segre-
gated for observation and treatment as may be required by he Health
Officer.
(c) Upon report that any person has been bitten by a dog
the Police or Sheriff's Department or Health Officer may order such
dog segregated for observation for a sufficient period of time to
satisfy the Health Office that such dog is not affected with rabies,
or if it appears necessary and advisable the 2olice or Sheriff's
Department may order such dog destroyed as a vicious dog.
Section 4
(a) The County of Oakland may provide a pound and the
Police or Sheriff's Department, or any other person who may be em-
ployed for the purpose, may, with the approval of the Board of
Supervisors, seize and impound all dogs that may be found running
at large or being kept or harbored in any place within the County
contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance.
(b) No dog that has been impounded shall be released un-
less the owner or person entitled to claim such dog shall pay to the
Police or Sheriff's Department upon demand the awn of Three Dollars
(j3.00) for the care and feeding of such dog, and, furthermore, pro-
duce a proper license for said dog. Any such sums collected by the
Police or Sheriff's Department shall be turned over to the County
Treasurer. -:.:-
(c) All dugs not claimed and released within seventytwo

(c) All dogs not claimed and released within seventytwo
hours (72) after being impouAded may be destroyed or may be sold or
otherwise disi,osed of by the 2o1ice or Ileriff's Department; provided,
that any dog impouaded that has been exposed to rabies or that has

bitten or attacked a person, Shall be kept until such time and under
such conditions, as shall be required by the Health Officer.
Section 5
No dog upon which a license has been paid in some other
jurisdiction in the State of Michigan for a current year shall be
subject to a license in Oakland County until the owner thereof has
indicated his intention to take up his permanent residence in the
County or has resided in the County four (4) months and kept and
maintained such dog or dogs within the County at such place of
residence for the period of four (4) months, provided such dog or
dogs are kept within the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 6
The provisions of this ordinance shall not apply to dogs
commonly known as hunting dogs, while such dogs are in actual use
by the owner or owners or any other person in whose possession such
dogs shall be found with the knowledge and consent of the owner
thereof.

Section
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of
this Ordinance upon conviction thereof shall, for each offence, be
subject to a fine of not to exceed Twentyfive Dollars ($25.00) or
to imprisonnent in the County jail for a period not to exceed Thirty
(30) days or both such fine and imprisomaent in the discretion of
the court, together with the costs of prosecution.
Section 8
This Ordinance being necessary for the public welfare
and safety, shall take effect immediately upon the passage and pub-
lication thereof.
