The Personnel Committee having reviewed MR #08102 on June 4, 2008 Reports with
the recommendation the resolution be adopted.

IN RE: DRAIN COMMISSIONER - DOWNWARD RECLASSIFICATION AND TRANSFER OF
TWO (2) POSITIONS
To the Oakland County Beari at Commiss1oners
Chairperson, Ladies and ent=emen:
WHEREAS, the :-.-1,4tnering and Constretien Division of the Crain
Commissioner's Delcartment is responsible fr overseeing the design and
construction of new stoLr trains, sanitar7 sewers, water mains,
wastewater treatment facilities and laye ieve1 control structures; and
WHEREAS, the demand for these ser7i ,..:es :as diminished due to the
lack of new construction .projects; and
WHEREAS, in reFpcte to the cudget con -terns tor Fiscal Year 2008
and beyond, the Oaklana Co=tv Crain Commissioner has reviewed the
current departmental staffing -eves; and
WHEREAS, to increase efficiency whiLe lowering costs, the Drain
Commissioner requests oo .-jownwardly :eLassify two (2) vacant (SR)
Construction :nspector pcsItions (60:0326-rJE998 and 6010326-06899)
to the r'Asz'firat',.::r of Aaintenance Mechani ::; and
WHEREAS, to MQ::: ,eitectively utilize these positions, the Drain
Commissioner requests to transfer the positions from the Engineering
& Construction Eivtsion 01:"..i26; to the Operations & Maintenance
Division (6010207).
NOW THEREFORE BE :7 2,1.:3OLVED, that the Oak:and County Board of
Commissioners approves ate :_ownward reciseifization of two (2) vacant
(SR) Construction Inspector positions ::1932::-06898 and 6013326-
0669) to the c1assificat1= of Maintenance :!,..o.'hanic :I.
EE IT FURTHER RESLVE:, that the :2akland County Board of
Commissioners approves the transfer of the two (2) reclassified
Maintenance Mechanic positions from Engineering
Construction;:nspection (6010226; to Operations & Maintenance/Drain &
Sewer Maintenance (60207.

POSITIONS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has
reviewed the above referenced resolution and finds:
1. The Drain Commissioner- Ls requesting :b reclassify two (2) vacant
special revenue funded Construction inspector II positions
(6010326-06898 and 60:0326-06899) to a classification titled
Maintenance Mechanic II.
2. The Construction Inspector i positj„o%s are salary grade 8 and
the Maintenance Xechanic II positions are salary grade 7 with
overtime non-exempt, resulting in an annual net savings of $418.
3. The Engineering and Construction Civision has experienced a
slowdown in new construction projects, and in order to enhance
future workload objectives, the two Xaintenance Mechanic II
positions will be transferred from the Engineering and
Construction Division to the Operations ane Maintenance Division.
4. The following budget amendment -1 -s rec=ended for Fiscal Year
2008 and 2009 Adopted Budget to retlect the position
reclassification and transfer.
