Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move acceptance of the foregoing report. Gingell, District #3, Vincent Gregory, District #21, Tim Greimcl, District #11, Manic Hatchett, District #10, Bradford Jacobsen, District 41, Karen Spector, District #16, David Woodward, District #18, Helaine Zack, District #22 IN RE: BOARD OF' COMMISSIONERS — RESOLUTION TO MAKE ENERGY EFFICIENCY THE FOCUS OF THE REGIONAL PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABILITY To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies, and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Detroit City Council and the County Commissions of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties have established the Regional Partnership for Sustainability; and WHEREAS, Michigan's per capita energy use continues to steadily increase even as energy costs increase; and WHEREAS, cities and counties can increase energy efficiency through green building practices and other energy-efficient actions and policies that can demonstrate measurable results; and WHEREAS, energy efficiency and diversification can create opportunities for economic revival by providing job and business opportunities within the emerging green economy; and WHEREAS, there are models of government-led success in other cities, states, and regions. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the initial focus of the Regional Partnership for Sustainability be on Energy Efficiency. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the. Partnership will work with WARM Training, and the Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office and ReBuild Michigan initiatives for technical assistance, training hi best practices and energy audits. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners hereby requests the Oakland County Clerk to forward copies of this adopted resolution to the Detroit City Council, the Commissions of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, WARM Training, and the Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office.
